This is going to sound crazy, but it's driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
If you guy remember I recently fell into a CF-31, which makes me owning the CF-30MK1, CF-30MK3 and CF-31MK2. For the most part, I have the same OS image on all 3 except for some small programs here and there for work in which they do not even start up at all unless I start them. One would think that the MK3 would be a little faster than the MK2 and then the 31 would be faster than the MK3. It just does not play out that way![]()
I can't for the life of me figure out why the MK2 is faster than the others. The MK3 has the fastest SSD out of the 3 for starters. The MK2 is so much more snappier than the others. The boot times are almost in half, transferring files is faster, it gets better scores on Wprime, just about everything is faster. The only thing different besides the obvious hardware is that the MK2 is not Touch. I have always been perplexed as too why the MK3 is slower than the MK2, but now that I have the 31 it is really pissing me off! Sometimes I wonder if it's the BIOS, that's what it feels like to me would be a factor. I can't find a different BIOS anywhere though.
Anybody have thoughts on how or why this could be? I can't imagine that maybe the MK2 is just put together, hardware wise, set up better, or whatever since it is just hardware. Anybody have any thoughts and have you guys seen anything like this before? The only thing the MK2 does wrong is that the screen buzzes when it's running on battery and not on full brightness. Drives me nuts to hear that noise!

Are you saying that the 30MK2 is faster than the 31
. I have some what of the same problem. I have two CF-52's, MK1 (2.0) and MK2 (2.26) VPro . Both are running Intels X25 SSD's but the MK1 is so much faster. Boot time is 22 and 30 sec. Makes me wonder if Panasonic is slowing down the faster cpu's but these ones have a fan so they don't really need to but with the 30 maybe they do but even still the MK3 should be a little faster
. I can understand why your peed off

Awile back when I talked to a guy with the Toughbook development team about the 30 model being SATA 1.5 we talked about which models are NOT limited. He said that the 52 MK1 was the fastest Toughbook to date. He said it's a hell of a machine; qoute. I have learned alot since then about the mobile/low power cpu's that they use. It's a little upsetting but I do see the big picture in why they have to do this. At least you guys have proved that I'm not crazy.
