I am new to the world of toughbooks and this forum. I have recently purchased a CF-30CTQAXBM with EC V1.00L16

I have a 750g hdd, TS, BT, Combo drive, AT&T wwan, with 4g of memory. I believe I have updated all the drivers. I am still running XP pro sp2. I would like to upgrade to gps, backlit keyboard, and possibly a fingerprint reader. What are my options? Any and all help would be appreciated.

well the keyboard will cost you $60-$100 and the fingerprint reader up to $200 for the kit. For the gps I would go with custom-toughbooks or techtuff...both are forum members here. Myself I would go with a SSD in it and W7...very fast.

Is windows 7 really that much faster? What do I need to do to prepare for installation? How big of an ssd can I get for this thing? If I just install W7 or the ssd alone will I get a boost in speed?

You need to spend some time reading some of the threads around here. You will learn a TON of useful info. Then you can dial in and ask the questions that will really help you!

For GPS I'd go with TechTuff's kit. It is a superior product and easy to install!
