As some of you know, I had a bulged barrel and had to send the gun back to Smith and Wesson for repair. I got it back last night and noticed a few things:
1) They replaced the barrel (Obviously), but they replaced it with a newer version! It's a different color and seems to be better because the gun NEVER jams now! NEVER
2) They replaced the whole upper slide and firing pin as well!
3) There was a screw that always came WAY WAY loose after 100 or so rounds and it doesn't come loose any more! I put about 400 rounds down range last night and never had any problem with the screw!
I can say that I think the reason I got a bulged barrel to begin with is because of pore and inadequite cleaning. My co-worker Jack helped me clean my gun today at work and I learned about 5 things that I was doing wrong! wow!
Now that all is said and done, I will NEVER shoot lead nose rounds again! Only copper plated! Reason: WAY TO DAMN MUCH MELTED LEAD in the barrel! GAH!
All in all, I'm not happy that I had to send it back, but to say the least, they did a DAMN GOOD JOB fixing it!
Thanks

Glad they repaired it. Some manufacturers will blame a bulged barrel on faulty ammunition and deny warranty coverage.

I bought the lifetime no questions asked warranty... That's probably why they covered it. But I can see why they would want to deny it...

You most likely had a rough bore. I shoot plain lead ammo all the time in my .22 upper with a full auto M4 lower and while I get leading, it is not a big problem.
Glad to hear that the company made good on your warranty. -

"On Topic": NCHP uses Smith & Wesson M&P's chambered in .357 SIG, as well as Panasonic Toughbooks. -

thats why i own a glockClick to expand...
1) The p22 is a 22lr pistol, Glock does not make a 22lr pistol
2) He was using cheap RNL ammo. Glock strongly recommends in the users manual you only shoot ammunition with jacketed bullets. This is because polygonal rifled barrels tend to lead up quickly with unjacketed bullets raising the pressure levels too high, that on it's own or plus the case not being totally supported can cause catastrophic failure.
I got Walther P22 back and it's MUCH better now!
