I came into the living room this afternoon to see my 3 year old son pouring water from his bottle onto my laptop - he was just washing it, he said.

Good thing I only let him use the ToughBook!

Nice! I trust it came out no worst, for the lack of dirt and dust?

    *Sigh*

My oscilloscope did not fare as well; it will need a new set of probes as my son has disassembled them and lost several key components.

    ARRRRRGGGHHHH!

*Judder* I love my son... I love my son... I love my son...

Really nice :) Had u told him the story from the dishwasher to a millionaire?

The grounding of my knowledge of today started in the earliest childhood, as I disassembled and tried to reassemble any technical device in my range, for the happiness of my parents. So a toughbook is very good for children, which want to know, where the pointer is jumping, if they touch the screen and whip them off the desk. But if this child is like I was...a toughbook has also screws on his body :-D

I kinda wish they had a Toughbook style netbook, then I'd get my daughter one...
I'd let her play with the TB, but she'd get MAN-ARMS from carrying it and could break her little feet if she dropped it..

She's 18 months and can't resist pounding on keyboards, or messing with my ipod touch, so she's gonna need stuff of her own I'm guessing fairly shortly. ;)

OMG, I have to buy one. It will be my next frivolous purchase, when I have a few dollars lying around. Time to go do some research.

But, I was refering to something a little newer, maybe with 3g (or more than just 1 band for the US) and/or a real keyboard.

look into the cf-t1/2/4 series... they are very netbookish... and a bit more rugged... though not water proof at all I dont suspect parts are easy to get... and they only go for about 100 on ebay in their simple form (cf-t2 900mhz pentium mobile with 256 ram) new panasonic batteries can be had for about 15 dollars... real batteries too... not junked ones.
