My son is attending a new school this year and had to get a Lenovo T-410 as part of his supplies. It is a school for students that have learning disabilities. It's a whole new concept of teaching with computers that I am not too aware of for sure! Yesterday we picked it up from the school and last night I was doing some hands on time with it. It seems to have some pretty nice features for sure. From what I understand it is a new model. I like the fact that it has the new Intel I5 processor, I am jealous now!

Here is an article that was written up about my son's school's program with the Lenovo's. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you may! However, I value the opinions of the memebers on this board very highly. Some of them I know for a fact have had some experiences with Lenovo's, such as JB.

    Thank you.

I think for this it's ideal to hear from other T410 users to share their experiences with the system so you probably going to get more responses in the Lenovo/IBM forum than the Panasonic forum (Hello NBR Toughbook users! :)). So I would recommend moving this thread to the Lenovo/IBM section.

But congratulations, I think it's a good thing schools are investing on such technology to develop skills for the future generations so I believe your son will greatly benefit from this program. Back then we pretty much had nothing! :p

I don't personally have the T410 since I own a T61 which is a far older model than the one you got currently but it has been a solid and reliable machine. I pretty sure the T410 would just be as durable and a joy to use as my T61.

Toyo, I used to campaign Thinkpads both on-duty and off. They are my second favorite notebook behind the Toughbook and I really like the Tech Support and they way they do their driver and utility updates.

I am almost ashamed to admit that that Lenova had continued on the same way and actually seems to be doing a better job then IBM at the end.

I also understand that you would wish to get the opinions of folks that you know before going into strange territory.

Heya! I personally HATE the new Lenovo's... they just suck all around... They are chintzy, thin plastic and just not good all around.

Now the i5 is a NICE CPU for sure! So you win there! On top of that you get DDR3 RAM which is super fast too.

I'd say after about 3.75 years you will start to notice that this laptop will NOT hold up to what you think it should (ESPECIALLY since you are used to Toughbooks lol).

I prefer the older IBM T60's and T61's such as the monster HERE...

Sorry it's not what you wanna hear in the morning (err, morning here at least), but I speak from experience. My experience with the new "Lenovo" laptops are less than desirable

Yup, after Lenovo took over the complete Thinkpad line (I believe the T43 was the last one made completely by IBM) it's really changed. For the worse. The new T-series still feels like cheap plastic.

Yes, T43 is right... (X40 series too)... the T60/61/ X60/61 series is the hybrid IBM Thinkpad/Lenovo ones... they are GREAT machines too...

I had the T30, T40, and T41 before moving on to the Macbook Pro and Toughbooks. Back then, the Thinkpads were the toughest laptops I knew about. You can pour a limited amount of liquid onto the keyboard to watch it drain through the bottom hole... keyword: limited. :p

I can attest to the cheaper, plastic feel of it. I pick it up and it feels like a potato chip compared to the TB. However, they are 2 different beasts.

I had an R40 made by IBM, it was a good machine. I have never had a Lenova but I still I find the way that they are doing Tech Support now superior to the way that IBM conducted it.

Ehh! The R40's were good but still more plasticy than the T series machines... The R series laptops were for home use and the T series was the business machines...
