CF-19FHLADAM model just got one of the GPS units of of Rob and installed it,but it won't appear in BIOS or Windows. There was only one ribbon connector that went into the soundcard and the antenna. I don't know if I missed something but I assume it gets power from there? It won't show in Streets and Trips or Winfast. and it is not in BIOS like on my CF-30  I assumed the option would appear as soon as it was installed.

Did you look in the BIOS under Serial Port Settings? I had the same problem when I installed my GPS. I was expecting it to be listed with the WLAN, WWAN, etc.

Try setting the BIOS to the default settings.

Something's wrong. There should be three entries. The third being GPS.

Did you reseat the cable connections?

Did you try removing all power, holding the on/off switch on for 30 or so seconds and resetting the BIOS to default settings?

Alright third time was the charm, at least i got over my fear of cracking open the 19. seems the cable was not in far enough. now it is visible in BIOS but not in Windows 7 do i need to apply the registry patch? Also setting in BIOS should be auto or enable?

    Mine is set to "Auto".

The GPS shows as COM3 in device manager in Win7.

If you have the crazy cursor, disable the GPS, apply the patch and enable the GPS.

You don't need to do a system restore. Just disable the GPS in the BIOS, apply the patch and then enable the GPS.
