Hi all, i received my cf19 (mk1) and i'd like to do a clean install with win xp on my samsung ssd (470 series)

I installed the ssd (in the bios boot sequence i see this)
i connected a external cd with xp install cd

the procedure start but after some minutes i see a blue screen with:
    ***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

After a google search i found this:
    1) Installing XP: ***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)? - Cyber Tech Help Support Forums
    Is this a solution?

I have a bios V1.00L14 but i can not find the sata section or the hdd section where to change AHCI/ATA configuration.

I searched for a new bios but i found only this on panasonic site:
    "BIOS V1.00L16 / EC V1.00L11 (Feb‚ 2008)"
    but there is this note:
"This is the BIOS update for CF-19(mk1) Windows XP Downgrade Model only"

    any solution ?

you think could be a solution to find a ssd driver like when i install xp on a raid machine ?
start installation, press f6 for install raid hdd driver and go... ????

If it's like my CF-30 you will not find it ( AHCI/ATA configuration) . When I installed W7 or Vista I had to update my BIOS to the newer one. If I was to go back to XP then I would have to down grade my BIOS...the same as you. There is 2 BIOS upgrades for yours. Read below....also what OS was installed when you got your 19, W7 , Vista or XP ??

There are some extra tweaking that you are gonna want to do if you are running XP on a SSD. Do some google searches and you will find them. The XP OS does not handle or perform some of the functions that a SSD needs. TRIM is the 1st one that comes to mind. Does your SSD have built in Garbage Collection? What SSD is it?

On a side note. Don't you find it kind of wierd that Panasonic hardly ever releases BIOS updates? On every other computer I have ever owned there is always a BIOS update every now and then. It does not matter that it's a Toughbook, the internals are mostly the same, the different brands of BIOS manufactures that they use are used by alot of other laptop makers as well.

Thank you all for help and support!

    @Toyo, my ssd is a 470series from samsung, 128gb.
As soon as i will find some time i will check the trim and the garbage collection function on my xp.
Could be possible the ndd has internal trim and garbage collection function?

    i found this: LINK

I agree with you that it is a great site, Les and the guys helped me out on which one to buy and the setup of it. The guide helped me cut at least 12 seconds off my startup time...about 30 seconds to windows :D

    Cool!
Out of curiosity at what point do you start your timing? I have always started my times at the Press F2 To Enter Setup. I stop my timing when I am connected to my WiFi. I know that sounds crazy, but they both seem to be a pretty good consistant spot. The best that I have ever gotten a SSD down to is 19 seconds on my MK2 running a Patriot SSD. My MK3 with the Samsung is 30 seconds 99% of the time I ever check it.

Yes, if that is the correct restore disc for your model. Be sure to search all the different Panasonic Support sites for any driver updates. You can also install and run the Intel Driver Update Utility to see if they have any. I would not install one of the Video driver's if they provide one for you. It will create problems with the Fn & Hotkey functions. I am sure you will see a newer driver from Intel for your wireless, those type of drivers you can update. Just always keep checking FN F1 &F2 keys to make sure they work properly.

Once you get all that installed let me know. I have some other programs that will really help as well. First things first. :) :)

You need to check the FW version on the SSD as soon as you can. The latest version is AXM09B1Q. This latest FW update is non destructive finally. Don't believe whatever you read on the internet, besides me of course :) it is not destructive. It used to be that way before.

Good luck, let me know if you need anything at all.

    Slightly off topic!
I am new to the toughbook scene and have a cf-19f mk2 with the original 120gb drive and the 7500 processor.
am interested in converting to 128gb SSD.
question one is what do i need to look for in a ssd, does it need to sata, dual voltage, 1.8", 2.5" and do I need a conversion cable to fit it. It looks to easy to just get a sata 2.5" on flea bay and stick it in my caddy??
Question two is whats the best option for an internal GPS, I am happy to install myself and would prefer it to be all inside the case of the toughbook?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Peter

A regular 2.5" sata drive is all you need. No dual voltage or conversion cables.

thanks for the heads up on the ssd's I have ordered a 320 intel
it does seem that these Toughbooks get into your blood, I seem to be quite attached to my cf-19! Its my first toughy after killing three normal office laptops.
My work is out in the bush and any time I have off is spent on my yacht where the CF-19 will be storing and displaying my charts.
I posted the same question on another thread as I could not find this one so ignore the other question..
how can I get an email response when a thread I have commented on gets a reply?
    regards
    peter

well this is way off topic but can can someone tell me how to efficiently search this forum?
I want to know where to get a good price on a high capacity battery for my cf-19, also interested in an external charger to charge my spare!
When I search the forum for "cf-19 best battery" it produces 14000 possible answers!

    Welcome to the forum!
While there is alot of good info here, the forum's built-in search engine is totally useless. A much better alternative (thanks to member Ohlip) is to go to Goggle and type: "TEST site:forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic" (deleting the " marks and replacing TEST with whatever string you are searching for).
    Hope this helps.
