So I think I have a bad HD, it seems to have spontaneously appearing file system errors, slow access times, and the computer hard crashes on long file copies. ( if this isn't the problem don't tell me i need to justify replacing the stock hd :D ) so this has raised two questions

    1) Newegg and just about every other retailer seems to be out of the 7200 RPM 2.5" ATA-6 drives. So either i can find a used one on ebay (no new ones there either  ) or buy a 5400 rpm one from Newegg, what do you suggest? Is the speed difference noticeable?

    2) A new HD requires a new OS (i think my current copy is going bad anyway, maybe that is the source of the above problem...but shush, the logical side of my brain doesn't to think that), I don't currently have a CD/DVD bracket for the TB, but rather a USB external (was cheaper when I got the TB). Can I install XP with this or do I need to go buy a bracket from ebay?

    Thanks for the advice,
    Ty
