A client of ours is having a problem panning on a mapping application that we write on their panasonic toughbooks (CF-19's).
One of their toughbooks the panning is fairly smooth while on the other it is really slow and choppy. Doesn't help that they have all the settings turned up, but I would of thought any reasonably new graphics card (even with shared memory) would have more than adequate graphic speed.
I am pretty sure that the graphic adapter is to blame, but I can't find anything out about either chipset (level of acceleration, known-problems, etc). All I get is the intel data sheets.
The faster panning one is on the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset while the slower is on the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset - about 2 1/2 years difference between releases.
Is this massive level of difference expected? Does it sound like a driver problem as they both have the same amount of ram and same cpu?

stupid question: is hardware acceleration in the video settings activated?
-
I have it here in front of me.
In Control Panel->Intel GMA Driver for Mobile there are settings for 3D (under the button for '3D Settings' but I can't see an option to disable acceleration.
Where would this option be located?
Thanks, Graham Reeds -
Found it!
Under 'Troubleshoot' in Display Properties hardware acceleration is set to Full.
So it is not that.
The driver is listed as 26/02/2007. As a client work PC I'd rather not install drivers 'on the off-chance'.
Thanks, GR.
