Something that might be useful for people who want to put SSDs into older Toughbooks.
Intel are now producing a 1.8" version of the X25-M SSD. It is marketed as the X18 and has the same specifications and performance of the X25-M (the only difference is the drive's mechanical packaging).
I know that there are real problems putting 2.5" SATA drives into older Toughbooks (since the SATA-ATA adapter boards won't physically fit). The X18 drives should solve this problem.

Good find, they will still have to come way down before I can justify putting one in a CF-28. As a side note the pata to sata adapator and drive will fit in the cf-28 caddy sans the factory padding, but since the SSD has such great shock resistance it should not be needed.

This is how I put my 64 GB OCZ core SSD in, took a little of the padding from the opposite end of the caddy so the adapter could squish in. I tried removing the "L" bracket as the post says, but then the front of the caddy deformed and wouldn't make proper contact with the notebook interface. Removing a little of the padding made all the difference, and was all that was needed.
