I had this problem with my CF29.
I'm not sure if it's the glass, serial board, or cable, but my ts isn't working properly and stopped working twice. I also did the toothpick thing, and it worked immidiately. I took the lid apart and fussed around, reseated the connectors, and it works again. There is also a 'blemish" on the screen (see pics), which is most likely between the protector and the ts glass.
how do I know which part is broke needs to be replaced? I'm pretty sure something is wrong, but I don't know. When I "test" the touchscreen by trying to draw straight lines, with a straight edge and stylus, across the screen, it humps at the bottom (take a look), and the calibration for the lower 1/4 of the screen is also off, and recalibrating does't help.
I even cleaned the bezel gap with the lid taken apart, so I could see it from the inside.
For the time being, i'm looking for a replacement touch screen (with bezel?) to replace my own. It's a CF-29C mk1. I'll try the bst forum shortly.

SO, I found a replacement ts (just the glass) for $125. I think it will be mounted in the frame's front bezel (his english is pretty good, but I'm not sure, I just emailed him back)
My questions are these:
what part of the touchscreen usually fails?
Do I want to replace the serial board to?
How do I know which is faulty?
If I need to do a better search, tell me the keywords please: I searched for diagnose touch screen and replace touchscreen and a few variations of such. -

This is rediculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With the cumulative IQ and knowledge on this forum, one would have thought we would have figured out the exact issue with the touch screens.
All winter long my 29 touch has been doing fantastic. Now that it's warming up a bit, I get random malfunctions:
the TS will uncalibrate, so I calibrate it, and 20 minutes later it's like calibrating it uncalibrated it
I intermittently get the slow draw cursor (touch the screen, the cursor is 2 in away from your finger, and it slowly centers under your finger to the correct position).
Or it will be out of calibration, and after trying to use it for 30 seconds, it will mystically be calibrated correctly.
And when it gets really warm (like when the sun warms the case to the touch) I get the left 1/3 of the screen dead on the x and y.
I have a 29 cdxgzdm and the screen is out of an htbm sbc unit (both apparently suffered during their lives in extended periods of direct sunlight).
I still haven't fixed the mouse pad, btw. I've been using the TS only, since I broke the mouse connector. I still have that other 29 mobo laying around that the member formerly know as gork donated to me.

Why I don't know. But guess.
Options:
1. Send the panel to Ohlip and he will repair it.
2. Send it to me and I will replace it and send the bad panel to Ohlip.
If you haven't used the MB by the end of the year send it to me. I need it.
This is somewhat tongue in cheek but I will replace panels for a consideration + cost of the new panel.
Of interest. My CF-30 TS worked fine until I plugged it into the dock. On again off again...now dead. NOT the same as CF-29. It's a USB panel and I haven't looked inside yet.
Jeff formerly Gork!......that 'll teach 'em to talk about me......muttering -
The issue with the touchscreens on the CF-29/18 and maybe the 30/19 is the white style connectors. The adhesive in them fails and makes the pins loose connection. Making them intermittent, erratic, only go one direction (ie to the side) or non-op at all. The newer style is a gold connector with new adhesive. and shouldnt have the issue nearly as much.
