I gave up IE 5 years ago. I use Firefox religiously now (except there are a few sites ie: panasonic, that require IE to work correctly). But ya, downgrade the crap now, and install Firefox.

A little off topic but I've been meaning to ask. Once a day the CF-30 wants to install XP SP3. I'm happy with SP2 so has anyone found anything in SP3 that would justify taking the risk that it will screw everything up?

I always update to the latest version
Every single toughtbook ,including as old as cf-28 models
I have the download on cd for sp-2 and for sp-3 so I don't even have to be connected to the internet to install
And then I run all the updates from Microsoft

The way that I see it is that they solve problem issues in each release and fix security problems , so thats good enough for me

Windows xp original release in sept2002 is in comparison to xpsp3, a totally different operating system but should not cause any problems

I experiment myself with beta releases of software ,I keep trying to find the time to try out windows 7 but would not trust to install a beta release on someone else’s computer

Cap... ALWAYS update.... I thought I had an issue with SP3 early on... And I might have. I am not sure if it was a compatibility issue with a program or what... But it all works now!

I installed SP3 on all of my workstations at work (about 170 of them) and SP3 crashed 4 of them to the point where a wipe/reload was needed (and those were the older single core machines at that). I also have SP3 on my Toughbook as well.

    2 thumbs up for me!

We are starting to include SP3 on all the new computers at work, but we do not usually go back and update the old ones. (bad I know, but we have 1500 computers and only 5 of us techs!) I have not found any compelling reason to update other than Micro$oft told us we should, but I have not seen any issues at all with SP3, so I see no reason not to.
