I am asking about someone to send me some old and almost trashed battery for my Toughbook CF-27 so I could add new cells but then I realized I do not know if it's that type of battery i can replaces cells, so is there already someone who have already done this job?

I replaced the cells in my cf-25 battery (it’s similar)
That was the last and only time I have tryed this
I did not work well as there is a chip on the battery circuit that retains info like capacity and charge cycles
In the end it was a total waist of my $100 and the time it took to break apart the battery case and replace the cells

I think You should try it.

    I've replaced cells twice.
First time I've placed 6x 18650 cells, 2.2 Ah each. Before it battery didn't hold the charge at all. After- it was as new- more than 4 hours of work. It was about 2 years ago.

Next time I did it about 3 weeks ago. The same battery, before repair- a bit more than 1 hour of work. After cell replacement it is 3- 3,5 hours of work (meybe I had better cells first time).

It is worth trying- I paid about 30$ for cells. But 18650 didn't fit battery case (sorry for my bad english ;]) and I had to use duct tape instead.

Cell replacement didn't work on my CF-28  .

I'd spend the money on a new battery... Or a new laptop. Heck... For the price of a new battery you can buy a CF-28! (But then you'd probably need a new battery again.

If you try to replace the cells on a used Toughbook battery you will be wasting your money unless you know how to reprogram the chip inside. If you DO know how to do that or you find out... Please tell us here as I don't think anyone on the forum has figured that out.

I have a bunch if 18650 batts I bought last year to do this... I also built a battery tab spot welder to get the job done. It was a waste of time. (Except for learning how to build a spot welder!) I did just buy two bad media bay batteries to try to replace the cells... But these were NEW batteries that had died from non-use... They died on the shelf having never been used. So I figured that would be worth a try. I'll post back when I have the time to replace them.

No.... All that does is charge, discharge and then charge the battery. You need some sort of utility and program and interface to talk to the chip inside the battery.

Sorry, no the recalibration utility will not reprogram the chip
    It just communicates with windows

What will happen after you replace cells is the Battery light will flash Red and that’s it
The battery will not charge as it will detect a fault

It is not always right away, you might get a few months of use before this happens
