My Cf-18 had been working fine recently, but today the screen started to slightly flicker, then later it flashing a little bit almost like the screen occasionally blinking, it also seemed to be running a bit slow. I put it in standby and watched a movie opened it back up and got nothing on the screen even after a couple of reboots.

I thought my screen must be bad but then i notticed that the power lights on my external wireless card wouldn't come on and neither did the hard drive light when i first turned it on like it normally does durring a boot up.

The power light stays on, the front brightness buttons and the keyboard light up as well. the hard drive sounds like it's on as well. So i tried to output to a monitor and got nothing also the usb ports aren't sending out power either.

I took out my extra ram stick just incase that was bad and nothing changed.

Does any one have any ideas what's wrong?

Also if i end up having replacing it what's the going rate for a cf-18 without hard drive/case/conector, battery and charger?

You should be able to get one for under $200.00 cf-18 | eBay
. Last week one seller had them for $130.00 but they did not last long.

Pull the harddrive and battery and try again. You also have an external wireless card. Remove that too. The same goes for anything else you may have hanging off it (printer, etc.)

Next thing I would try is a different power adapter.

no differences when using the original adapter, a different adapter with or without the batter or using only the battery.

    edit:
I'm sorry i didn't mention it earlier but, thanks for the info toughasnails. and to rusty for trying to help me out.

I got a CF-18 for parts a month ago sold DOA. I put another mother board in it to test it and the motherboard worked, I swapped the old board back in and decided to try it out, it powered up and even after several bounces on the bed and short drop onto the floor it still works, maybe a connections has just loosened up over time. May be time to pop the back and see what is going on under the hood.

Yah, forget the bed. Drop it on the floor/counter. Flat and about two inches at a whack.
    rusty told me to.

Easy now I want to make sure it keeps on working, lol. I could tell someone had been inside it before it was missing the plastics around the screen, few screws and the dock connection inside was gone. Since it worked I got to try the other board I think might be dead back out, never know.
