I am able to buy several cheap Panasonic CF-T1 toughbooks. They all lack a DVD-rom. To install a new OS, it is important to be able to boot from external USB-DVD and/or USB memory stick.

Do you folks know if the Cf-T1 is able to do this ?

According to that page, the Panasonic CF-VDRRT1 usb cd-rom drive works. Panasonic CF VDRRT1 External DVD ROM CD R RW Drive Pack for CF 18 Series | eBay

In the bios, Boot-Menu it seems the CF-T1 also has the option to use the USB CD drive.

The important question is if a USB cd/DVD drive from another brand will work with this Cf-T1 laptop.

And thanks BarrMaley for the lightning fast reply.

When I had my T1 I used my Samsung DVD drive to load windows XP on it. It takes the same ram as the CF-07. I couldn't get a good price on that ram so I got rid of it. Other than that it ran fine. It also had a dual keyboard English/Japanese. All of the T1's are in the Let's Note series. Pentium 3 Processor 866 Mhz. It did seem to struggle with xp, was most likely because of the 256 Mb of on-board ram.

In the middle of that album I have 9 pictures of it. A couple of the bios screen, but not of boot options.

I read some info on the internets, and indeed. The Cf-T1 can boot from any bootable USb-CD/DVD player.

Thanks for all hints and tips for this machine. I still did not buy any of these CF-T1 but they are very cheap on ebay nowadays.
