Well, here how it fix it. Take it out and put it on a garbage and then install a new one. Simple.

The long segment in the handle needs to be removed. (2 screws)

There are posts on the two short side pieces. They fit into black oblong holders. 4 posts total.

I used a BIC pen, and cut 4 small rings. Each ring fits over a post. (tight fit)
Each post, with its new ring, fits back into the oblong holders.

Then re-assemble. The handle is now a considerably better fit.

Took 5 mins. And a cheap pen.
I used the regular cheap ball point.

EXCELLENT! This is the sort of "macguyver" repair that we need to learn more about. As the cost of living skyrockets, and the availability of parts for CF-28's shrink, we need to discover and share new ways to keep these fine laptops working.

    Sure appreciate your post!

I split my casing and replaced two of the four nylon spacers (one on either side) with rubber o-rings and now my handle has a smooth gliding action, dont fit o-rings that are too big as the handle wont stay closed, just big enough to create some friction

Historic Interview with Aaron Russo is also very good
