I'll be running out today!
<To pick up some milk> -
Yep, Smart folks are dumping their CF-30s for whatever they can get! I am paying $200 a piece for nice ones, really just to help out, but I can not promise to be able to pay that much by the end of the week as prices continue to fall!

just bought a mk3!

I need to seriously get on of these... I must feed my addiction! AHHH!!!! It must have a sprint card internal though... It appears that I'll be able to take my beloved shiny key emissive keyboard from the CF-29 days with me as well as the DVD-RW that I have in my CF-30... w00t!
-
Sadly, I have not had any takers yet...
Seriously, the CF-31 is a nice machine, I plan to get one in a few years... -
Well.... The posers and SBC units are killing me.... Within a month I'll be working full time running another business and keeping the Ultimate Toughbooks as a hobby.... Just to keep my hands in it.
The posers with the 15k SBC CRAP units are killing me.... An others!
But it has been a fun ride.... Almost time to go... -
Heck... They might as well be selling the CF-30 for $200.....

The funny thing is, that while we all drool over the latest offerings from Panasonic when it comes to Toughbooks (kinda like that new car lust), for most of us, it really is overkill. There are those on this forum that require having the newest, either for the increased specs or because they are technicians working on them, but in most cases a CF-29, 28 or even a 27 would work fine. If all you do is surf/email/Word/etc., then it is definitely overkill. One nice thing about new models being released, it allows those of us on a tight budget the opportunity to upgrade to a newer model as the prices start to come down on the models that may be older to some, but newer to us. With the release of the CF-31, I might now be able to finally get my CF-30 to toy with.

ST, I agree 100%. Yesterday I spec'd a 31 out on Buytough.com. When I got to the CPU options I thought really hard on this. I am quite positive I could get by with the "Middle of the road" CPU. It amazes me that Panny uses that term BTW. Some of the options or features are or will never be used by some of us. Such as the user being able to see the screen with night vision goggles now
Why would one need a 2nd LAN plug/port? Asking out of not knowing, not being sarcastic.
I do like the extra 100 of nits they give you. Sometimes my 1K is not enough, or shall I say I wish it was brighter.
The company that I own as a second income/job/hobby I would be able to take advantage of some of the new features though.
The government sector that I am in implimented the 30MK3's not all that long ago. I am fairly certain if I wanted a new 31 I would have to pay for all of it. Each year we are given an "Allowance" for such items. We don't have to turn these items in or back if we use our $$ out of this allowance since 95% of the devices, equipment are not in very good shape or possibly in a 100 pieces. It has it + and -, but can be a headache. The last 2 TB's I have gotten have been with my $$ in that program. I will basically never have to turn these in since I did it that way. I planned it that way, but I sacrificed in other areas where I needed equipment. Damn I can ramble on......
All that being said, I firmly believe if history is any indication I would get a MK2 instead of the MK1 just released. My 30 MK2 runs circles around my Mk3 in alot of areas. Though it migt just be how I have set mine up
BTW, the one I configured was 6K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
