I know some members here have some experience dealing with Itronix products. So I hope you might point me in the right direcion fixing the USB ports on the above mentioned Itronix IX260+ GoBook.

I just bought it, and the seller did reveal up front that the USB ports on it do not work. Otherwise it is in really nice condition. So far, I have removed the drivers in Windows, and then scanned for new hardware. Windows finds them and reinstalls the drivers. So I do not think it is a driver issue. I have a USB powered LED light. When that is plugged in, it works in both USB ports. So it is getting power. I believe that it used to have an Air Card in the PC Card slot below the DVD drive. There are 2 black cables with white connectors on them. One is connected to the PC Card slot on one end, and the USB port on the other. The other cable is connected to nothing. The other end of it appears to go to the back of the laptop. I have looked at Air Cards on eBay, but none of the pictures show all sides of the Air Card.

My question is: Does the Air Card have a connector on it that this unplugged cable connects to to complete a circuit, and make the USB ports work?

Or, does anyone have another idea what else could be wrong?

Thanks, but I read all that before posting here. It did not have much to say about USB ports except some comments about only having one USB port, and the port not having enough power to run USB DVD drive, or USB hard drive. And a little info on turning off power saving in device manager to keep USB ports from going to sleep.

It is not terribly important to me to have built-in USB working (although this unit has 2 USB ports instead of the usual one). I have one of those Ake PCMCIA to USB cards, and usually only need USB for thumb drives and maybe a mouse, but was hoping one of you more experienced Itronix dabblers would say something like, "Did you try adjusting the flux capacitor" or whatever that I had not thought of.

I also found something in a Yahoo group about the USB daughter card being easy to replace. If I can find a replacement.

Don't worry about finding a replacement. I have lots of them and think I should be able to take one of the old beaters apart and get what you need for just the cost of shipping. Just to be sure, yours has the GPS on the lid....yes ?

Thanks for the offer. No , mine does not have GPS. I took it completely apart, and the USB daughter card has me stumped. After removing all the screws I found, I could not remove it. Probably have to go further and remove the motherboard completely. I'm not sure I want to go that far. Just removing the deck was tedious.

Which GoBook do you have. I have both styles and the one on the left has the GPS in the bump out on the lid

Sorry not to see this for a couple days. Things got really busy at the shop. Mine is like the one on the right (no GPS). I did not realize that the + sign referred to the GPS. Are your "old beaters" already apart so that it is no trouble to get to that daughterboard? If not, it is probably too much trouble to bother with.

I am not sure if the + means GPS or not...think its just another model like the CF-18 and 19. The one like yours has the GPS mounted on the left side
