    Well I just got an Mk1 cf29 off ebay for 250. Didnt really know much about these laptops except we have one at work and its great.

    So mine came with the smaller screen on it, not sure of the size but, are the lids and screens compatible between all cf29's ?

    Can I take a screen assembly from the larger screen version and install it on mine and everything work correctly?

    Also, It only came with a 20gb hard drive and I'm looking to upgrade. I can use any 2.5" laptop drive as long as it is PATA correct?

    Thanks

    Dustin

    I don't know for sure if a display swap is possible as that screen is fairly rare , we don't see many cf-29's with the transflective screen

    Yes on the second question any pata 2.5" drive will work
    Read the cf-29 FAQ sticky for info , I like the samsung drive

    Dustin;

    What is the Model Number (such as: CF-29xxxxxxx) on the bottom or the unit (or in the F2 BIOS readout)?

    Yes you can do a screen swap from 12.1" to 13.3" as long as you replace the complete assembly.

    in order to go to a 13" screen you would need to replace the lcd cable, lcd, and front cabinet and lexan/touchscreen

    Sweet. So what do you guys think about the hard drives? Will I see a decent enough performance increase with the 7200 rpm drive I posted?
