All, just thought I would let you know my most recent fun! I just put a kodiak iDock in my Jeep Wrangler. I used the RAM mount for it since they have a no-drill mount for the wrangler (the only ones that do as far as I could tell). I opened up the idock, and low and behold inside is an extra USB port. So since my local COMP USA is going out of business, I got a small USB hub and plugged in bluetoot and an extra HD I had laying about.

I haven't got the sucker powered up yet, so I can't give a definite answer to whether this will all work, but I did check with the folks at http://www.kodiakmobile.com (great place to download the wiring diagrams for the power, and user manual and such), and they said the USB is user ready!

I got an Engenius Senao 600mW EMP-8602+S put into the modem slot, and that seems to be working pretty well with a scavenged antenna from a IBM T40. One question I have on this wifi card, is connecting up to an external antenna. I know there is a pass through out the back end of the Toughbook, and the iDock actually has that out to coaxial. Has anyone rigged this up to work with wifi instead of the cellular connections?

PS. I returned my garmin dash mount for the RAM Garmin mount. The RAM mount is by FAR more sturdy and flexible.

I would imagine that the connector would have to work with wifi... Though I'm not sure of the loss you'd have.

Toughbook, when you get the Particle Beam Vaporizer installed and tested, be sure to post the instructions -- I really want one of those for my urban commutes :)
