I probably know the answer to this question already just searching around but this has never happened to me before. Yesterday upon startup I had a red vertical line appear on the left side of my screen. I have checked the connections to the Mobo and they are secure and I know it's not a problem with the drivers as it occurs on initial startup.

This is a failure in the lcd screen am I correct? And will a swap of the lcd unit fix the problem? I have a 13.3 on a MK3 CF-28 and the touchscreen is immaculate (thanks Springfield) and would prefer to just swap out the lcd. I know I've probably already answered my own question I just want to confirm the bad news.

Does the vertical line exist always even in BIOS, or only when in Windows?

Does it go away if you remove the RAM module?

Yup - you sure can swap out JUST the LCD screen; just want to verify it's not a driver or memory issue first. It PROBABLY is the LCD, but try the obvious stuff first.

Hmm, haven't tried the ram yet, I'll try that right after I post, but it IS there deedeedeeuring the BIOS boot so my guess is hardware.

You can also try plugging in a external monitor as well... if it's not on there, it's pretty much def the LCD.

Sorry to hear of your computer woes!

Until you can get it fixed, I might recommend a nice red desktop wallpaper. I got by for months with a carefully selected desktop hiding the damage to my LCD!
