Does anyone use a laptop tracking program free or pay service?

I am leaving for some time away in the Florida sun today, The Toughbook is going with me. Was thinking of this free software befor I go.

Review of Prey - Free, Open-Source Laptop Recovery Software

The review sound ok I guess, It free and better than nothing. Over a yearly or monthly charge, though I would get others input..

As you said, better than nothing. Any tracking program that is not embedded in the BIOS is easy to circumvent....remove the hdd and replace it.

Wire 10KV in the handle if it is picked up... You won't have an issue!

That's not free now, is it. :)

.. I use Absolute Lojack. Does it work? I don't know, I've never had my laptop stolen! I also have an active WWAN aircard in my CF-19 that's always connected, so it's pretty good giving me the latest location and I can also ping the laptop. If you don't have an active internet connection, you'll have to wait until the thief (eventually) connects it to the internet. Lojack is in the BIOS so it survives even HD swaps let alone formatting.
