So lately (started happening about a week ago) about 60% of the time when I go to put my Toughbook into standby (since I NEVER hibernate or turn it completly off) it just hangs and doesn't turn off and I have to hold the button down and turn it off then turn it back on.
I thought that it was the Sprint NDIS connection running in the background so I tried disconnecting that first before I put it into standby, but that isn't helping either.
There has been NO software modifications or anything in that regard - Only new docs and internet browsing and whatnot
Any thoughts? - Its XP Pro SP3.

so try to delete the hibernate-file and to defrag the partition and have a look into ur event-viewer.

What are your settings set for? Do you use the Fn key to do this or by closing the lid or what?

I hit the power button, then it pops up and asks me what I want to do (which I have that setting in power management), then I hit "standby"

What model TB is this with? With my CF-28 I know that I can force the machine to shut down if I hold down the power button for about 5 seconds, and if I do it briefly it beeps and that seems to be it. Is that meant to bring up a power management utility window? Ah silly me - in the 'power options' under control panel I found the section for configuring what the power button does.

I'd like to be able to hibernate this CF28 since with our daytimes temps over 40 C at present the machine gets hot to the point where I almost can't touch it in front of the kbd.. Putting it to sleep would be helpful!
I think that replacing the HD with a newer one would help too.

I doubt it is a hard drive issue, but I guess I could try cloning the drive to a new one... thats a lot of work for me considering I don't have time to mess with it lol

Latest issue - Won't stand by
