So i traveled to an Asian country last week. The 3-prong ac adapter cannot be used but luckily the hotel service provided conversion kit for me.
I am wondering if there is any route to purchase the Japanese version Let's Note 2-prong AC adapter in U.S.? Several resellers are asking for 180 for one, then i would rather prepare for a conversion adapter whenever i am travelling outside of States.
In addition, I am not sure the quality of those none-Panasonic branded adapter available on Amazon since i had exp w/ damaging one mainboard before in a foreign country.
Any input?

I have learned to stay away from the cheap china made adapters. I have had two for toughbooks and one for another computer last less than a week before they made a large pop sound, luckily no fire. Remember the IBM (older style, not the current style they use) adapter will also work, is of good quality and has two prongs (us style). You can find a lot of the two prong round 220v style cords that will plug into the IBM power supply box too. For when I am traveling overseas I have two separate small adapters I keep in my backpack. A friend at work has a slick one large but works like a Swiss army knife and everything re-tracks on it. It has several different combos on it.

Since some countries operate on >110-120V, you may want to consider this solution:
SOLVING INTERNATIONAL ELECTRICITY: The Walkabout Solution & HiLo Combination Converter / Transformer Kit
$63 will make you "ready to take on the whole world." -
Yes, i've seen those AIO adapter conversion kits. I may purchase one of such instead. However, still looking for reasonable priced Let's Note power adapter since i will travel quite often to Asia this year.

Yep, that's a good choice. Thanks.

Next time i am going to Hong Kong, the cheap world market, i will keep my eyes open.

I'm not sure what you are talking about with the "Let's Note" power adapter. Also what model of Toughbook is it that you are looking to power?
I have never been to Asia, but when I was in the middle east they used a hodge-podge of 2 and three prong plugs, all 220V. The nice part is the original Panasonic power supplies are rated for 220 and all I had to do was buy an adapter for a couple bucks. My CF-29 worked fine for nine months and the same power supply is still going strong back home on 110. I would venture a guess that there is probably a cord out there somewhere with the plug you are looking for that will plug directly into your Panasonic power supply brick too if you really don't like the adapter idea. -
That will be great if i can find one 2-prong cord that will plug directly into the original Panasonic power supply brick.

I know what you mean. But every time i visited Hong Kong, i can find some barging electronics there for much lower than MSRP. It's just amazing sometimes i can claim tax return in the airport later.
BTW, that's an expensive MSPS power adapter. Just send a request to Panasonic USA. Do not hold much expect, but want to listen what they will response.
I will keep this updated here. -

I am not familiar with Lets note but most adapters are switchable like this IBM for example
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
If this is the case you need just a power cord. Perhaps something like this or similar
6ft European Non Polarized Power Cord 300/300V at SFCable.com

My world power solution. Cost? About $50.

I have used IBM Thinkpad 560 adapters on all my Yx and Wx Toughbook computers for many years. You can buy them on you know where for under $10.00. The real IBM models are two prong.
-
BTW, never heard back from Panasonic on 2-prong in U.S. -
Nah. No way the C1 "needs" 5 amps. The 16v 4.5amp IBM adapters run all my Toughbooks no problem, they're all I use. I'm pretty certain my CF-30 is using more power than your C1.
