Well I have had the GPS engine installed for several weeks now, still looking for more to do with it when I came across a free program named XPORT.
The program allows the GPS data stream to be used by multiply applications at once. I am sure some have seen it and use it. I searched around here but did not see it mentioned, so I thought I would post it.
I only have three programs that use the GPS right now and they seem to work great all at once.
Streets and Trips, Net Stumbler, Compass (which you can get free at the XPORT site), and Navigator, hey wait thats four! They all work well using the same GPS.
The program is small and it looks like you can setup 8 more ports. Seems the Toughbook w/winxp has no problem with that many ports.
You can configure it to load when you start windows and your good to go.
If you want to run multiply apps off the same GPS, including USB GPS, here you go....

That's cool. Thanks for that.

This is EXACTLY what I LOVE about this site!.....Nobody trying to keep all the little secrets to themselves, everybody seems more than happy to SHARE there latest projects. I am now looking into GPS myself and will definitely use this info later on...
Thanks
Also, those with GPS do you all use the translucsent screens? I have tried bringing my regular touchscreen outside and can't see a thing unless I totally shade the laptop.... -
Is xport free? I am using FRANSON GATE from www.franson.com and it does the same sort of thing.... and perhaps a little more, except it is not free after the 14 day trial.

It has been a life save for Bluetooth gps. I could not get my Bluetooth GSat to connect to anything lower than COM 40, and IGuidance only accepts up to 16 COM ports, this utility has let me stream Bluetooth data to COM 16 and allowed my IGuidance to work.
It's always good to know about other utilities to do the same thing... especially if they are free. -
Yes its free, he takes donations through PayPal. Does not appear to do all of what yours does, so I could see why you have to pay for Franson Gate.
The Compass program is free as well.
