    1.3COM AD1807 JST ERL0814A-0.8 0047 56K chipset NOT supported by linux Analog Devices AD1807/1804
2.Parallel Tasking II 3Com 40-0622-002 0016S 40223253 LUCENT N3010V3 should be the ethernet controller supported by linux (module 3c59x)

what are the differences between the 2?
Does one have a different capability than the other?
Is one better than the other?

which one should I buy if a want to replace the factory 10/100 and 56k cards with a single 3com card?

Also, are they both the same physically? can i plug in both the internal RJ-11 and RJ-45 wires into the slots on the card?

They should differ only regarding the 56k modem chipset (3Com or Lucent). 3Com chipset doesn't have linux drivers so it doesn't work.

The one with Lucent modem I suppose...
I found another problem: the module of ethernet controller (3c59x) occasionally gives some pci errors and stops working and hangs, making the system boot slower and requiring a forced unloading/reloading.
Now I'm sticking with default intel ethernet only card.

They have both RJ-11 and RJ-45 slot of course.
