The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

IIRC there is a set time limit where it locks the threads automaticly, so I guess it simply passed that limit.

After 1 year of inactivity threads are auto locked iirc

You can just make a new thread, ping the users attention and include a link to the old thread as a reference.

Not everyone knows the Xenforo software treats old threads with no recent activity differently than the old vBulletin forum software. I did not think it was a silly question, especially from a long-term community member that got used to more than a decade of the old forum software allowing threads to remain active forever. The first time that happened to one of my old threads I was like, what the heck is going on here. But, all is well that ends well.

vB had a ton of security issues. Water under the bridge at this point, but I agree xF is garbage forum software.

I second this. It is not a silly question - and it's a pretty frequent question at that. I think the reasoning is that old thread necro is usually spam.
