Wanna hear a bummer?
I was waiting for a lot of my stuff to sell on ebay so I could buy the CF-28 1Ghz with GPS. The guy relisted them (all 17) but then took them down before the auction was supposed to end. I just emailed him and told him that I would even pay a little extra to get one in good condition with a battery and A/C adapter... He said he sold them all locally! &%!*#@!!!
So... I am looking for a 1Ghz with GPS if anyone knows someone who wants to sell one. If I can't find one... I might just go ahead and sell the one I have and try for a CF-29. I'd rather stay on the cheaper side though...

thats a real shame, is he 100% out????
did he say that????? or are you waiting for him to get back to you????
what about the other guy who's selling them,
oh just realise his ones are the 800mhz but do have the gps and black rubber keyboards -
but
i really do like this one.....

but suppose no different then ur very own apart from the gps,
but thinking about it ur one looks really nice also,
my one is in a poor state(just dirty), -
you are still lucky if you compare the usa prices to the ones in the uk, down here we are paying around £300 for a cf-28 600mhz processor and in the us you can get one with gps and is running at 800mhz.........
just keep a eye on ebay.....
am sure you'll find one.... -
The link you posted is exactly like the one that I wanted... Except it was a 1Ghz... You just don't see them anywhere!
Yes... I see what you guys have to pay for stuff... Plus VAT and think about opening an import/export business! -
My problem is that I want one NOW! I guess I could always buy an 800Mhz laptop and then buy a 1Ghz basketcase and swap Mobos... All CF-28s have the option for GPS in the BIOS I think...
-
that one DJACID links is the one i tried to buy, absolutely would not ship to UK.
really had a thing for that backlit kb
so i ended up with buying the one that has now ran out of stock, but its lost in the british system somewhere, either being dissasembled by customs, or stuck in a picket line somewhere.
I should save on postage and move myself to the US.
that cf-29 really is a dream machine if you can afford one, even over there they are expensive
good luck hinting, and if you get dissapointed pretend to be a brit for 10 minutes and sit on ebay uk, you'll soon feel much better about life
i love that stay home and clean your guns, that a quote? -
my own opinion is stay away from the cf-29 the money you are expaceted to pay for it, just isnt worth it, i was soooooo close in buying one borrowed one for the weekend and nope didnt see why i had to pay that price just for the wifi, bluetooth, i rather stick with my one and upgrading it myself will be much cheaper.....
touchbook.....all cf-28 have hidden bios menu, for example say you plug in the internal bluetooth card once this is done and you switch on the cf-28 and go into the bios you will see a new option appear for bluetooth "disable/enable", this works the same for wifi and gps,
jamesjrl have you checked ur tracking yet???????? -
James... Not a quote... just voices! j/k heh heh heh Actually I saw it on a bumper sticker the other day. It was the first time I laughed out loud after reading one.
DJ... What type of CF-29 did you borrow? Was it a 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6? I would imagine it would make a difference. How much RAM did it have? HD speed, etc.
I have 4 laptops including my parts unit... I'd sell 2 of them to get a good CF-29 or 3 of them to get a CF-30. I just want GPS and a slick machine! But then I love to hack too! It's funny... I originally bought the Toughbook to have something to play and experiment with. It's turned into a passion all of a sudden. I really don't use it that often which makes it all the more weird that I want what I want. (Voices maybe?)
DJ... are you sure about the different things showing up in the BIOS? I thought everything was there to start with and then you either had it or you didn't? (I don't know for a fact... Just guessing.) What if I plug a supercharger in there... Ahhh... But I digress... -
hmmm the whine of a supercharger
yes, you do digress -
The cf-29 i borrowed from my uncle well it was a 1.2 512mb ram and the hard drive was 40gb but too be honest it looked good but for the money i rather stick with the cf-28 for the mean while.....
Touchbook........well am 100% sure about the bios of the cf-28 when i unplug the gps on mine the bios option for the gps disapered and when i put it back the gps reapaered in the bios, the bios feature works the same for the bluetooth and wifi, now what am not 100% about is weather or not the bios will only sure the devices if there are the ones that for originally shipped with the cf-28,
what about the wifi card you have in ur one does it show up in ur bios??????? -
Wifi doesn't show up in the BIOS. I show a GPS enable/disable and don't have GPS... That's why I asked...
-
so it could well be that only the wifi/bluetooth(cisco i.e) devices shipped with the cf-28 will show up on the bios once installed..........
i have the mini pci wifi card that was shipped with some toughbooks so will check it out over the weekend to see if it'll show up once inserted........
Looking for CF-28
