Let me tell you all first, what I use my Cf-29 for. I am a Data/Com field Technican. I goto site often under construction, or exsting running store and do my repairs on the data, voice lines, POS changes and so on. I store photos of every site. Upload the work to my clients and contract agencies. I get electronic signatures from the customers.

Outside of that work, I watch educational vidios and may even store them on the laptop.

Want to this time around, have the hard drive partitioned into several partitions and then have flavors of Windows xp, 7, 8, and possible windows server, not to use as a server, but for learning purpouses "Unless some one can recommend a virtual server to learn Windows 2008,2012 on".

It would be great if the laptop has gps built in, because I cannot depend on my android all the time for gps tracking and commuting to sites.

I understand that microsoft stop making strets? if this is true, what other alternative is there?

Anyway, I forgot the philipino guy who lives in a aprtment in Richmond BC who sells toughbook gear. Name and number would be helpfull as my ibm power supply 12 volt recepticle fell apart and need to replace it.

Personally I would go with CF-30. It's a world of difference compared to the performance of the CF-29. Gain SATA interface on the hard drive, dual core, updated graphics, newer chip set, express card slot, SD card slot. I would recommend a Mk2/3 because of the touch screen. Max out the ram, windows 7 and SSD (even the 256GB ones have come way down in price). Besides the battery/charger that is about all you can carry over.

You will have to check compatibility of windows 7 with the programs you are running.

ADOR, I found some utilities that did a 8 hour scan, yes 8 hour scan of all left over registry entries on the laptop from previos app installations. I have been having issues with slow performance even after scanning with bit defender, Vipre anti virus. Did a registry clean, cccleaner clean.

The ONLY thing I use it for is storing site survey pictures, Site signatures, address lookups, and watching vidios.

Its all been taken care off. Except his software issue. His unit is the only one that he use for everyday work. No chance to leave it to me so that to diagnose fully.

I tell ya, some times people have the worst luck like me. As soon as I left Ohlips residence with a part for my laptop power supply, went to a job site to do a POS upgrade. Employee occidentally boxed half my laptop power supply cords into one of the three POS boxes, so asked her to cut open them again. Went home last night at 1:30 Got to bed at 3 am and got up at 8 am and found the power supply is missing. Waiting for Ohlip to return to home, and I am in Richmond waiting for his call back after leaving a vm to pick on up.
