The mk1's are internally different from the mk2 and later models. Many parts won't swap to or from a mk1.
If you are attempting to rebuild one, avoid an ex Air-Force model if possible. They use heavy duty Lock-tite to cover every screw head.
You will spend HOURS attempting to remove the screws and open the bottom cover.
Avoid the passworded ones as some of them have a system password that won't allow the Toughbook to boot at all. I bought one that when I tried to boot from a HDD, it encrypted the HDD's that I had installed. Impossible to save those 3 drives. I even tried new PCB's.

Yeah, I've heard about the bios password lock and know not to mess with those. I was unaware about the differences between the Mk-1's and the newer generations. Thanks for the info.
