    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as posted in this closed thread:

Lost backlight, CF-W2 (little toughbook) - puzzled

So please, how can I locate and replace the corrupt fuse for the backlight on the motherboard? I'm sure about the correct function of the TFT and backlight, because I get a second motherboard for testing (with corrupt onboard-RAM ...).

    sincerely yours

I thought I had that problem too on a CF-W2 I had. It turned out to be a pinched wire in the hinge area, happened when I split the case to install wireless card and harddrive.

No, it is not a problem of a defect wire - as I wrote, I have a second partly defect motherboard to make tests. I'm looking for a board layout tobe able to localize the defect fuse, because I think ,the problem is a defect fuse Can anyone help, pls?

According to the thread you pointed to the fuses you're looking for are 1.6mm. x 0.8mm., rating is 2 Amp and they are located near the connector on the MB. That case size is 0603 and they are easily found on the auction site.
Likely to be marked with an "N". Shouldn't be hard to find on your spare board.
Fuse types are basically fast or slow blow but there are variants and it's usually important to replace with the correct type.
    Hope this helps.
BTW. Fuses usually blow for a reason and shorted wires in the loom near the hinge are, as ADOR said, the most likely reason by far.
