Hello Everyone. I love these toughbooks. I got 2 CF-28's(1 MK1 & 1 MK3) and 1 M34 MK2 from ebay. The 28's touchscreen work great, but the M34 only worked with windows 98. I read everywhere that xp has an issue with touchscreen. I've tried everything i can think of to make this work. I tried all possible drivers and com ports. The only thing i can think of is maybe starting with xp pro SP1. Has anyone been able to make the touchscreen work on xp pro? Thanks in advance.

Hi! its seem s that you can't figure it out. Here is another option that i have already done with my other unit, but i sold it out a month ago. First reformat the harddrive install windows 2000 or if you have recovery cd much better. After installation check all the drivers if all are working properly. Then here is the one that maybe not familliar to you: copy the 1386 file from win xp cd to a folder( either you make a new folder on My document its up to you) after you copied the file go to a folder where you save the file(1386) open the 1386 file and look for a file win32 and run it, choose upgrade ignore whatever windows ask for a driver and your ready to go.

Is your question for XP Pro in general...or XP Pro on your M34??
I have my touchscreen working in XP Pro on my CF-28.. If you go to the Panasonic website....you can get the drivers from there...that's where mine came from... -
Thanks for trying to help me so far.
Here's my situation: I can get everything including touchscreen to work with win98 and win2000. I have the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, I installed windows 98SE on my desktop pc and i copied xp pro cd to a folder, put HD back in laptop, open xp folder, choose new install, got the panasonic drivers but the touchscreen won't work no matter what drivers i use. I don't see a win32 file inside I386 folder only winnt32. I would like to try to do this again tomorrow. XP is a must for the programs i use, and it would be nice to have the touchscreen. -
Oh! sorry winnt32 your right and not new install, UPGRADE. But make sure before you upgrade to xp that all drivers such as touchscreen, hotkey etc. are already installed which ever 98 or 2000.

Try either of these;
http://panasonic.ca/PDP/Drivers/d-2002-107_touchscreen.exe
http://panasonic.ca/PDP/Drivers/d-2002-088_touchpad.exe
See if that fixes it. I'll assume you know the drill for activating the driver? -
You need to update the mouse driver to activate the touchscreen...
-
before i try this again i wanted to see what i was doing wrong. i can only seem to update mouse driver with touchpad , not touchscreen. the touchscreen is a setup installer, right.
-
You are correct, the CF-M34 uses a serial port touchscreen and you just need to install the UPDD software. The CF-28 uses a PS/2 touchscreen and has a different installation method which involves updating the driver through device mangler.

Thanks to ohlip and everyone else for helping me. I'm upgrading right now. I'll let you guys know if it worked.
Is it normal for the touchscreen to not work while the computer is upgrading to XP, or am i just being paranoid?
Well it didn't work, it kicked my mouse driver back to PS/2 driver. Oh well. I'll keep trying. Thanks again everyone for helping.
I uninstalled XP, it took me back to win98 and touchscreen works again. If anyone gets an MK2 M34 to work with touch let me know. For now i'm gonna use xp with no touchscreen. -
I know it can work as I see them all the time on ebay. You may want to email a few of the seller and ask them. You might find one friendly enough to give you some help.
If it works in Win2k it should work with XP.
Just my .02 -
I have seen the M34 with XP touchscreen on eBay too. but i don't remember
if they were they the MK2 models. Maybe I will shoot one of the sellers an email, I just don't want to spend a lot of time on this. I have 3 CF-28's I use now with no trouble. But I like the size of the M34. I think I will try it again. Thanks again for the help. -
I tried acouple different ways, no dice yet. There has got to be a way to get this touchscreen working.
Worked fine with XP Pro on an M34 MK3 i just got.
Must be the MK2.
