Okay guys - here they are... including a few of it NEKKID... *Wolf whistles* TAKE IT OFF!!! TAKE IT ALL OFF!

I took one of these apart when it failed on me (after I dropped it on the ground & ran over it with my Saturn); I never got back to putting it back together since my new replacement arrived in like no time. It was uber-cheap bought off of eBay too... 8 bux & change delivered, if I remember correctly.

So... It looks like the magellin antenna snaps into a holder in your thingamabob GPS and when you need it... You twist it to swivel it up into place? Is this correct?

I'm sure we could either mod something to allow it to swivel or just find a place where it could be mounted permanently... <scratches his head and takes another...>

I ordered one (I've ordered at least one of EVERYTHING in the past week! Just ask Gravitar!) and I'll see what I can do when it comes in. I haven't had to replace a GPS antenna yet but then I include a "Read Me" file explaining that they must be VERY careful with the antenna.

You should see mine. Digital readout, converts to metric and fractional, etc.

Though, I work in a machine shop so I need stuff like that ;)

Yeah... I gots me a few of those as well (20 years on & off as a professional mechanic). Got a cheap Stainless Digital set from Harbor Freight for 30 Bux, it's like yours. Got a good Mitutoyo SS dial caliper made in Japan that splits down to .0001; but I STILL always go for my granddad's Browne & Sharpe in/out mic set when I'm polishing up a crankshaft or honing a block.

    But scope this place out:

I do SO love the smell of PLATINUM errr- TITANIUM...

LOL We WERE talking about the antenna, but the conversation just drifted...

As for the antenna, yes it does incorporate capacitive coupling
in the center of the radome, so a fair amount of spurious signal rejection and built-in DC block are designed in.

My experience was this; I used it as manufactured, mounted via suction cup in my windshield, for about two weeks. I got signal lock on 6-8 satellites (with a 12 channel receiver) in less than 60 seconds cold.
After installing receiver indash with a 1M extension & the antenna stashed under the plastic dash cover, I got the same 6-8 satellite lock, only it took 5-10 seconds longer on average. Now this unit would get me going on only 6 satellites, so I never really noticed how quick it would lock in on the remaining channels; but I do know that when I shut it down it usually seemed to have a lock on all 12. I would imagine that with a modern 24-channel SirfStar3 engine, this little fellow would perform greatly faster.
