The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Hello all...

I am writing this Sticky because it seems that we are getting more and more questions about drivers and recovery disks. As Cap.Dogfish said to me, "we sometimes sail a little closer to the wind with respect to copyright and piracy issues" because Toughbook software can be hard to come by and difficult to find.

There are many stickies here that tell where to find drivers on Panasonic websites around the world as well as how to install them. I will try to consolidate these stickies, threads and posts (with the help of the regular members) and make them a little easier for new members to find pertinent info. However, working on and using a Toughbook requires reading, searching and a little work on everyone's part. Not only for the person who needs/wants immediate help but also by the hard working forum members who strive to answer questions as quickly and as fully as possible. You have purchased a Toughbook and it is as special as the forum itself! This means that you will probably have some aggravating times ahead of you. If it was easy... you'd have a Dell.

To the point... There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone asking for anything having to do with how to bypass/reset passwords, copying of Panasonic Toughbook Recovery Disks or anything else in the piracy or copyright infringement realm. ZERO TOLERANCE! If you have ANY doubt please PM me first. If you are new to the forum and wonder if your post will violate this, read.... We have discussed most things ad nauseum and you will most likely find your answer with a quick search.

Genuine Panasonic Toughbook Recovery disks as well as just about any part you may need can be obtained from www.heartlandsi.com. They are the only authorized repair facility in the United States. If you need a part number, ask! Someone will try to help you. You cannot order the parts (strangely enough) online with Heartland. You must have the part number of the part needed as well as the full model number of the laptop that needs the part. You can reach them at (913) 685-8855 from 7:30am - 5:30pm CST. They are great to deal with. If you have warranty questions or need to contact Panasonic Tech Support you may call their toll-free number at (800) LAPTOP5 (800-527-8775)

Heartland may not have all parts for some of the older and even some of the newer models. So we also have a Buy/Sell/Trade (BST) forum that we were lucky enough to have separated from the main forum BST. I don't think any other forum has this. If you want to post something for sale you MUST follow the BST rules! (Stickied at the top of the BST forum) If you need a part you will usually find them at fair prices or, in some cases, even free. If you don’t find what you want for sale in the B/S/T section post a “WTB” or wanted to buy in the BST section and you'll be surpised at the response you will receive! If you are new here forum rules require that you must have 15 posts before you are allowed access to our “PM” private messaging system so you will have to include in your post an email address so that you can be contacted

We rarely have any issues in this forum and I just wanted to head off any potential problems before they start as more and more Toughbooks are being sold and more and more people are coming here looking for answers.

There is no membership fee for these forums as advertisers pay that for us. We cannot afford to cause advertisers to either shy away or to stop advertising here. Please keep that in mind.

    Thanks!

    Rick

Not sure if everyone knows the forum rules or not but please read the below text or click on the link below.

Why I am posting this is because over the next few weeks I will be doing some cleaning up of old and new posts (deleting or merging). Some post get really off track and have nothing to do with Toughbooks. Now posts like this might seam fine to most of the regulars members but to a new member who just wants his Toughbook up and running he does not want to hear about it. I have gotten a few PM's about this.
I don't like cleaning up posts but if I don't then someone else will. If you were in my shoes you would understand.

Any threads/posts of these above types will be deleted.

Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

We reserve the right to ban or infract anyone who willfully violates the forum rules. Bans will not necessarily be permanent, but enacted based on the seriousness of an offense to these rules.
