read the above carefuly and remeber the toughbooks are a well built system, panasonic made sure that you can just stick any odd ram and make it work,
so no cheap ram will do........
Kingston and Micron ram are the ones to go buy also there is another one made by samsung but rather then buy that one you be better of with crucial as there are better prices......
long as you only buy the brands listed you cant go wrong, i bought the micron one and toughbook has bought the crucial one!!!!
-
got a crucial on the way as well.
-
I wish i could up the memory on the MoBo, but I'm no solder bot lol
I ready have the max of 512mb ram in this 800mhz lap'y.
Just wished they made it so there was 2 card slots there........
Then I'd be happy lol -
-
hehe I have the max on the stick already
I dont have any memory on the MoBo tho
So I just have the stick of 512mb of ram to work with. -
you sure you have a 512mb stick of ram in it????
and no ram on board?????
run the belarc test and put ur results here -
Hey DJ
I have a cf28PCJGEPMBKB
my bios is only 2.00xxxxxxxxxx and I dont see any downloads for any bios except for a cf28S MK-3 wich will take you to 11a.
Do you see anything about a bios update for the model that I have 800mhz gps touchscreen with the above model number.
I type that model number in and dont find any information about it an any panasonic sites I am at. It was maybe a special make for like police agency or something I dont know.... There are somethings that I dont see on this one compared to teh other cf28P's that I looked up manuals for. -
i'll give them too toughbook,
and he'll upload them for you............... -
Yup... email them to me and I'll post them.
Well.... My stick of RAM came in today and it was BAD!!!!I ran MemTest and it showed some bad areas...
It was Crucial so keep that in mind when you order. djacid told me to stay away from it but I had already bid... -
whooo sweet, away from a net connection for a few days and all the action happens.
well i suppose i have no choice but to buy a 512 stick really.
256 is more than plenty, but those voices in the head are saying "max it out" cause until i move to the states i aint got no guns to clean :-D
good work DJACID, taking a risk does come up with a winner. -
hey badjeep i given toughbook the bios its the only one i had.......
if you need it let him know otherwise good luck with the one you found......... -
I'll be posting a CF-28 DRIVERS thread tomorrow. I'll post touchscreen, video, BIOS, hotkey mgr, GPS, etc... Wait until I post and then if I've missed anything you can let me know.
-
that will be very cool...........

Just a fYI My Mk2 version 800mhz gave me BSD when I install new crucial 512 stick of pc133.
My bios was version 10b.
I updated the bios to version L13 and its booting fine and win2k recognizes 777,200KB ram.
Ok Im jumpin the gun....it did at least boot and recognize...but now after running for a few I got another BSD. Time to see if its new bios or ram. -
on the stick of crucial ram what does it say on the atual chip????
-
no thats fine,
crucial used to use micron rams basicaly the same ram but just crucial labeling but now,
twice i have seen different rams,
the one toughbook bought also gave him problems with one toughbook as it kept showing errors every time he did memtest.....
run memtest or windows ram tester and see if its anything to dow ith the ram..... -
well, that's hard to do when it Blu screens after about 2 min in the machine
-
Mine keeps BSOD an both laptops... I'm going back to 512MB total.... Unless somebody finds out why...
-
Has anyone tried booting a live CD of Linux like Puppy Linux (my favorite)?
Just wondering in general and it may provide some helpful info as to if the memory problem is Microsoft or
the Panasonic BIOS or a hardware problem with voltage control to the memory or what.
Hoping to order two CF-28's tomorrow ... then I can join the mod & updates games here!
Thanks! David -
you'll be able to run it off disk with out a problem,
caus windows wont be starting its a dos programe running through ur bios......... -
