Others have asked this and no one answered....will CF-29C which is a MK1 work with a 2gb ddr ram module? Also, is it possible to unsolder the built-in 256mb of ram and replace with a 512k or 1gb?
I was a little confused about my model because it came with a 60gb hard drive.
Been a great computer so far.
Thanks,
Jim

If you can find a 2gb pc2100 or pc2700, 200pin in one stick your set to go but so far no such thing as 2gb for those unit. But of course tech. and the the manufact.. are changing.

I thought the max that the MK1-MK3 could take is a 1GB DDR? I know if you search there are a bunch of threads about this

1GB is the largest, as there is no 2GB ddr-1 pc-2100 or pc-2700 made at this time

Yeah, and I sure wouldn't hold my breath waitin' for it... there's no market drive for manufacturers to R&D stuff like that for legacy hardware - all they're doing is opening themselves up to litigation if they make it when there's no manufacturer specifications for compatibility.

This is a 2GB stick. Would this work in the Mk4/Mk5?

That's a 4GB single stick of DDR2 RAM.
My guess is probably not due to BIOS problems -
No, its not a Bios problem. It's a chipset-limitation.
