If you have a newer 1:7 twist H-Bar like mine look for the heavier 62 or 63 grain bullets
Something about better trajectory I think
But if you get 1000 at a time I suppose you can miss the odd shot

I love this forum. TB's Christmas card has morphed into a discussion of grain weights for bullets. We do know how to get off topic.
CAPWyoming88! likes this. -
5.56mm I believe is 223 rounds not 222 AFAIR. I have about 50 of those (shot too much last month! hehe)
-
Well I tried. The .222 Swift I used to use for Woodchucks. Not to date myself but I carried a M-14; 7.62 Nato-.308 Winchester and a M1911-A1; .45 ACP made by Singer Sewing Machine. The Serial # was 969 on the .45, and I tried every way I could think of to steal that gun.
CAP -
I think your right Capt, I hear that Modly might be hanging around over at ar15.com and would most likely need some .223 Rem or 5.56 mm to feed his Christmas present.
Now we just need to start talking about the cocktails we will be drinking later and this would be a complete hijack of TB’s Christmas card.

6 pages...
:rolleyes2:
-
It is a stabilization issue. The 1/7 is required for stabilization of the heavier bullet weight. I will stick with 7.62 Nato for when long distance is the next best thing to being there.
-
Cocktails? I'll take that "arn" city chased down with VO.
-
Well I will agree with your assessment Iceman
I have a h&k 91 in 7.62 and just love it
But the AR-15 is common and very easily upgraded and modded
The same is true for Caps old 1911
Thats the reason a lot of us, are here on the forum
We arent happy leaving things alone
We spend time and money to make things better
We start with quality equipment, like the toughbook
And make it better
And thats amazing, in this throw away world that we live in
That we can be happy with a computer that most people would of sent to the landfill long ago
So that they can purchase a new Crapware filled ,cheap looking, high on specs / low on performance laptop

Iceman,
With the M-14 you could truly reach out and touch someone, and it had a bayonet lug for those up close and personal times. I wonder what that Singer 1911A1 would be worth to a serious collector.

Yes.... Merry Christmas everyone! heh heh heh.....
Yup... I have an H-Bar too. I stored over 1k rounds of NATO .223 62 grain steel penetrator core... I have a few rounds of 9mm as well. 6-7 cases of MREs, etc... If the balloon every goes up.... I'm sure everyone will want to be my friend.
No... Not a whacko... Just prepared.... I'm not digging a pit in the backyard.... yet!
Cadillac... Good to see you again! Drop in more often please! -
What!! No al-key-hol?! Gotta make my Tom Collins in your bunker if you want my 9mm rounds to add to your stockpile!!
-
Thanks for that Doobi
The thread was almost off the toughbook front page
I was going to give it a bump just to keep it here
It does give the Dell guys something to think about when they wander on to our forum
They are probably thinking that there is not to much going on over here , when we still have a Christmas thread in the main page
Maybe toughbook could make it a sticky?
Alex -
Heh... Merry Belated Christmas... & Happy New Year.
That reminds me, I REALLY do need to bring in those lights...
mnem
LED X-MAS LIGHTS.... Oooooooooh.... vibrateyyyyyyy.... -
Alex, a thread that deliver good tidings, handguns and auto rifles... has to say something about this crowd.
BTW, I envy those of you who are free to own arms legally. Where I am, even slingshots are banned.... actually, anything that shoots a projectile is banned and that includes a homemade PVC blowpipe.
Happy shootin'
Ron in SG -
Uhm, who said we were LEGAL?!!
-
Good to here from you Ron
Have things slowed down at the lab yet?
I will explain the gun issue
I believe that Singapore is so small in area, and so densely populated that guns would be dangerous there
You shoot off a gun there; someone is going to get mad
Here in Canada and I believe the Usa we are not as densely populated and so guns are perfectly safe
Alex -
Alex,
For a change, lab work have slowed down to a crawl and likely to stay that way for a loooong while given the current state of economy. Time to take a breather, get digging into those toughbooks again and be glad I'm not on the unemployment queue.
The CF-29 that I got off the NBR is now at the Customs awaiting GST and other tax payment. I'll probably go down tomorrow so my friend can tinker with it over the weekend (Adam, I'll post updates soon).
Regarding armaments, it isn't just the issue of gun ownership that bugs me but the erosion of rights to anything. New bills, rules & regulations are quite crudely shoved down our throats under a pseudo democratic political machinery that governs all that we eat, see, do and think. The current 'no smoking' campaign broadcasted over party-controlled media is reminiscent of propaganda in old communistic China (which SG is no where near, BTW). Gawd knows what I'd do if I get me grubby hands on a 357 magnum!.... and Doobi, I din hear nuthin' <grin> -
That 91 is outstanding. Keep it forever. I let mine get away. Stupid move. It was the Toughbook of battle rifles.

Iceman
Yes it’s hard to beat the German engineering on this model
Mine has the arms mount and 3 to 9 power leupold scope that was a package at one time for this model
I originally was trying to find a 93 as I have a ar-15 and mini-14 and it’s the 5.56
But H&K are rare , especially here in Canada, and the situation is not going to get any better
The lawmakers are hoping that the older generation 50+ that have been grandfathered in and allowed to have these die out
The younger people have so much red tape to go through now days
Its discouraging to see
Fewer rights a freedoms in this new world that we are living in

But now that Christmas is over, Happy new year since all of January is the new year. I don't own a toughbook yet but I am working on it. I think the qualities of the toughbooks are what will drive a group like this together, so even a person like me that just likes toughbooks can get along with those of you that actually own them. -
What are you waiting for, another christmas! Hurry!..buy one now and have some fun.
ohlip -
Right now, AR's are on deep backorder. Everyone is in panic mode. And for good reason. Now that America has BO there is a problem fast approaching.
I have a firearms business and right now, business is good but for the wrong reasons. -
Only a thousand rounds, you better start stocking up if you want to be able shoot that weapon much after the ammo ban. Serialized Ammunition
We dont start thinking youre a wacko around my parts until you hit the 100,000 rounds per caliber mark and thats not counting reloading supplies.
Ill try to drop by a little more often but as you know I have been spending more time chasing fewer bucks and its not likely to get any easier.
Cheers
Jim
