I have both mk3 and mk1 versions of the CF-28. Im going to be selling the Mk1, but Im putting xp pro on it to raise its value. Unfortunately, I cant get the touchscreen driver to work. Ive read several posts now and all of them ended with no conclusion. Ive worked on cf-72s and 28 mk3s, so I know the process of driver update and whatnot. Ive tried all of modly's drivers (even the 98 driver). Ive gone to the Canadian, US, and Australian sites. I have a panasonic COA for xp, so I really want this transaction to be 100% microsoft approved. I don't know what else to do. I thought I was alone working on these tough books until I found this forum last week. Any insight on this infuriating predicament?

And it gives an enable/disable option in the bios, so it does have a touchscreen.

I also have the MK1 28. My apologies as I am going to write this as if you have no computer skills.
Go here:
http://www.panasonic.ca/PDP/Drivers/cf28_mk1_xp_mouse.exe
Download and install to your c driver. I believe it goes into c:/util when it installs.
Go to the device manager button by right clicking on my computer and then properties and then hardware. Find the Mouse driver. Select update driver and pick that you are going to select the location. Point it to c:/util/mouse.
After all that it should work. On a side note, do you have the hotkey manager working? Usually it will show up as unknown device in device manager once you update to xp. If not, the instructions are the same as what I have said above. Just download the hotkey driver off that same site. If you have any questions, call me at 619-813-2214. I can talk you through it like a bad B movie scene where a guy talks someone through disabling a bomb. -
Tried that driver, but I tried it again anyway and it still didn't work. I am updating the driver in the util/mouse/xpv20Io1/ folder, and it doesn't like anything there.

Go to PS/2 Compatable Mouse.
Right click to up date driver.
Install from a specific location.
Choose: Dont search I will choose driver to install.
Choose: Have Disk.
Click Browse and then go to C:/util/drivers/mouse/xpv20I01/fidmou.inf
Click ok and then touchpad/touchscreen should come up. Click next.
Restart computer when it finishes.
If you do infact have a touchscreen, it will work when you restart.
You have to do it like step by step or it wont work. Call me at 559-998-0717 if you have any questions -
*slaps forehead*
Oh good lord. I see now. It WILL NOT detect the driver in the folder you specify, you have to be more assertive and select the driver itself.
Bomb disabled! Thanks~! -
No problem I would like to sticky on how to do this because alot of people have problems getting this to work and it has to be done in a way that is not usually used. If you have any other questions, just message me.

Cool, was stuck myself several times, bought a restore disk but then found this only works on one CF-28 ~ so I've used this one to restore others ~ this method should save me the 'bother' now thanks.
