I recently shattered the screen of my MK2HP with the WUXGA screen.

I'm trying to find a replacement without spending $100 for just the display, so I'm looking at used Toughbooks on ebay. I think the MK2HP and higher (FK, ??) use the WUXGA screen, and the MK2 and lower (CC, GN, FN, ??) use the WXGA. I cannot seem to definitively verify this, and if the displays for the MK3 to MK5 will be compatible with my MK2HP (although IIRC they should).

Does anyone have a list of the models and the screens associated with them?

Yes, I know all that information but it doesn't help me with the ability to screen-swap.

You could run MonInfo, but that's only useful if the system still boots. Doesn't matter if the lcd is defective or unplugged; it can pull an edid copy from the registry, so even an external monitor plugged in years ago would still be present. Can also just make an export yourself, of course; it's everything under ' HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY'. Upload/attach that dump somewhere and I'll have a look.

If it won't boot then you can also get the information from the sticker on the back of the lcd. That means dismantling first, but you'd have to do that anyway for the swap.

Once we have the manufacturer's number it's pretty easy to make a list of compatible panels.

Good thing you made a raw dump; the edid does contain the panel number, but its data block has been tagged incorrectly, so software tools won't give you this information.

It's a Sharp LQ154M1LW1C: 2-channel LVDS, 1mm pitch 30-pin and a single CCFL tube. Connector location is unspecified, but have a Dell D800 with a WUXGA panel from the same Sharp series and it's top middle-right. There's plenty of compatible panels, but there's quite a few mediocre options and this Sharp model is very decent. Any of these will do and they should have as good an image as the current one or better:
The exact models are horribly expensive, though a few ' fit for's are quite cheap. Poor displays then, so perhaps you could consider this $55 listing for a TLA2 (+$15 shipping). Looks dirty, but that's easily fixed. Might be bent due to rough handling, so check with the seller first. It doesn't include the inverter, but you can easily swap that from the broken display. Mind that some of the models have mounting 'flaps' at the top and they might not fit in the Panasonic's display lid. These flaps can be unscrewed from the bracket with a small philips screwdriver.

CCFLs were great; no eye fatigue and they overclock like crazy. My Sharp can do 185Hz without breaking a sweat. LED backlights seem like an improvement all around, but their refresh rate can't compare. They're smaller and consume less power, yet from the manufacturer's perspective it's mainly their much lower cost that made them attractive.

Hmmm, I'm not looking to replace with a glossy screen and those options are terribly expensive. New are around $115 in the US and $70 if shipped in the
I can pick up used/damaged Toughbooks for cheap on ebay, which is why I'm looking for other Toughbook models that use the WUXGA screen.

Thanks for the help everyone. Even though I wanted a complete laptop I ended up just blowing the money on a screen.
I purchased an LG 15.4" LP154WU1 for $35, and although it has a decent scratch in the upper RH corner it works well.

    CF-52GFNxxxx

    Are you sure about that?
CF 52Gxxxxxxx all have a WXGA screen. Not a WUXGA.

    Yeah, scratch that last comment.
I was using my MK1 and the resolution matches. Not my MK2 or MK5.

I found a definitive list of what uses the WXUGA screen in the MK 1&2 laptops.
The SECOND number of the model after CF-52 is the graphics designation!

    CF-52x_xxxxx

    C: 15.4” WXGA
    F: 15.4” WXGA + vPro
    G: 15.4” WXGA + vPro + LIGHT BATT + NO RJ-11 + NO FIREWIRE + NO AR
    J: 15.4” WUXGA ( 512 MB DEDICATED VIDEO RAM )
    K: 15.4” WUXGA ( 512 MB DEDICATED VIDEO RAM )
    L: 15.4” WUXGA ( 512 MB DEDICATED VIDEO RAM ) + vPro
    U: 13.3” XGA TOUCHSCREEN + vPro
