    Hi all.

    Tried to find my initial thread but don't see any advanced search function and my Profile page doesn't show a link so.....

    I initially had an issue with my Ross Tech VAGCOM software not working correctly. With list help, I found Windows Enterprise 7. This solved the issue but of course the OS timed out. IIRC, in that thread, I was asked to post how I installed the new OS. It's all been covered but here's a few links I found helpful.

    "right click on the executable, then Troubleshoot Compatibility, then Use Recommended Settings." in mnementh post in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/437230-windows-7-cf-29-mk3.html was really helpful in leading me to finding a way to make nearly all of the downloaded files work. They wouldn't have unpacked otherwise. (caveat: I don't think initially downloading the files to my iMac affected them)

    I haven't tested completely (and I'm still kind of new to TB's) but so far these work:

    touchscreen, sound, ethernet (web), hand writing, magnifier, hotkeys

    icon enlarger, battery recal, wireless show up in Start menu & tool bar.

    Basically I installed W7 from a new OEM DVD, then downloaded all the drivers etc. here:

    https://panasonic.ca/english/customercare/sandd/softwareQuery.asp

    this table was really helpful

    https://panasonic.ca/PCS/Drivers/CF29N_mk5_driver_installation_instructions-H-2006-0059.pdf

    The touchscreen worked right away. I downloaded this Intel Graphics Accel. Driver file:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/De...rsion=Windows XP Professional*&DownloadType=

    It "installed" but an error happened at end of install. Any pointers are welcome.

    So even though the touchscreen works, is there any need to find a way to install the 82852/82855 Graphics Controller ? The display doesn't look as good as it did under XP with the OEM TB drivers. In Device Manager, Display adapters shows "Standard VGA....", and a yellow exclamation mark beside "Video Controller" in "Other Devices".

    Hope that helps and TIA,

    Neil.

    Thanks Shawn.

    I may not have been very clear in my first post, but my CF-29 is running a new install of Windows 7 Home Premium to replace the timed out Enterprise version.

    I'll check out those links.

    As a side note, am happy the Writing driver works; it tracks my sig using the cursor, my finger or just a pen, way better than my Android tablet did! Being able to create a signature stamp for use in .pdf files may be needed in the near future.

    So I followed the instructions in the above linked thread, got permissions granted, saved the vgapnp.sys file with an added "x". This all "worked" but even though the Intel driver installed (.... 42xx Not the right one?) and the Intel chipset showed up in the Device Manager, on restart I get install errors and yellow exclamation marks appear again in Device Manager for the video controller.

    The touchscreen still works, screen resolution can be set in two different modes (low or high) and I can set size of font.

    Are there any other reasons why I'd need the older XP Intel video controller driver?

    I'll check other threads here for more current links to the correct older driver.

    Neil.

    Edit: also, consider going offline when doing this work. I don't know enough about Windows to say for sure, but I swear that during various procedures, (uninstalling drivers via Device Manager), Windows Update would go online to get the "correct" driver. i.e. just now am seeing to vgapnp.sys files with NO x as added by me.

    Did some more work.

    Using info from above links Shawn supplied, used command lines to turn off digital signing check and integrity checks. This made no difference to files I'd already tried to install. (see notes below)

    This Intel driver

    * Microsoft Windows* 2000
    * Microsoft Windows* XP
    *
    * Driver Revision: PV 14.24
    * Package: 28703
    *
    * Graphics: 6.14.10.4670
    * HDMI Audio: 5.10.0.1014
    *

    Was the only one that would install with or w/o the digital signature etc. enabled (and vgapnp.sys file edited) and in safe mode or normal at boot. But..... even at 1024 x 768, windows, text etc. won't display correctly and Caldwin X's get spread past middle etc. (touch screen is not accurate) Ironically, the generic VGA driver (which also allows touchscreen to work) seems best for my uses (haven't tried a DVD, games whatever)

    The driver that installed allowed me to change various stuff but it seems pretty useless given the screen resolution.

    Hope that helps

    Neil.

    Notes

    ddisable integrity checks
    nointegritychecks ON

    boot in safe mode (F8 at boot)
