Last week I Bought 4 x CF-29s Mk4 with 1 gig memory and 80 gig harddrive. They all have bluetooth and the SD-slot. Non-touch

I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 and Need For Speed - Hot Pursuit 2

I hoped that the games were better as my mk3 CF-29s and my mk2/mk3 CF-28s.

But strangely, All games have lag.

Today I tested UT 2004 and Need for Speed on my CF-29 mk4 and an CF-28 mk2 (800Mhz) . Both were set-up next to another. The Cf-28 played NFS Hot Pursuit 2 without any lag.

I tried almost all video drivers, but to no avail. Does anybody how to fix this problem ?

Fully rugged Toughbooks are not designed for gaming. They are designed to keep working in extreme conditions. There isn't any magic trick to make them high performance machines.

Do any of these games run on Linux? Try a Live cd. Maybe create a bare bones Windows bootable cd. No firewalls or antivirus etc....

I understand the fact the the CF-28s and CF-29s are indeed made to be tough, but still..

Its strange that the slower CF-28 800mhz runs those 2 games smooth, and the CF-29s mk4 1,6 Ghz runs them stuttering.. (with slowdown/lagging when there is a lot of action).

Normally, it would be the other way around.

PS: I use my toughbooks to take them to Rock concerts, and I like to play games on them, while waiting for the bands to appear on stage.

Have you tried GMA booter on them yet? I use to use it when I gamed on my Mk3 CF-29. I think WOW was the most intensive game I tried on it besides Minecraft.

GMA booster is only valid for 30 days or so. Somebody told me a trick to cheat a bit , by installing it with another date or so.... Any hints ? If this is valid to talk about on this forum.....

Unless they have changed it you can download it for another 30 days. I think he gets money on the numbers of download. The only other way is to buy a code for it.

Oh, and "Vampire the Maquerade - Bloodlines" doesnt work on my CF-29 mk4, but it works without any problems on my slower CF-28 Mk2... Still searching for the answer to my problem. Maybe its not the video driver, but something with the Intel CPU driver.... or so... I noticed in almost all games that i installed on the CF-29, that the lag/stutter appears always after 5 seconds game-time. I guess it has something to do with cash-memory

Is this only on one unit or is it the same on all 4 of your MK4 units?

Maybe it's something in the chipset when they swapped from the 855 intel to 915 chipset? That was the major change specs wise on that unit.

Try a "standard" Intel chipset driver. Download directly from Intel. Panasonic may be crippled somehow. Video also..

Yesterday, i tried to play "Need for speed Hot Pursuit 2", and several other games, on a CF-M29 mark 1 (the 1,2Ghz machine) with Windows XP sp3 and 512 MB. All games played without problems and no lag/stuttering. Next thing i'll do is indeed from a fresh install trying these games on the Mark4 machines.

On my CF-29 I got the latest driver that I could find from Intel which is Driver Version 6.14.10.4764 from the 13.10.2007
But there could be a problem with Video-Overlay with PV 14.25.50.4764 according to Intel:
    Issue:
After selecting a Scheme, the Video Overlay settings change to zero.
Unable to play videos with Video Overlay settings at zero. Black video is seen during video playback.
Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family — Video Overlay settings at zero after changing scheme

PV 14.24 coult be found at
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=14497&lang=eng&wapkw=915gms

and the PV 14.25.50.4764 could be found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=12531&lang=eng&wapkw=915gms
