Exactly what it sounds like... It's weird... I've never had this problem with XP (I'm using Win 7 now) and whenever I put it to sleep then close the lid it just turns back on...
In particular if it is plugged in, I put it to sleep, close the lid, unplug it then it turns on... W TF???![]()

have you checked the hibernate checkbox? win 7 has a problem with sleep, my w7 computers wont sleep either. but hibernate works fine. and it starts quite fast from hibernate anyway. just set the "when i close the lid" to hibernate. btw 7 has a setting that it starts when hardware changes occur. if i for example disconnect my usb wireless mouse it starts. the same thing applies to the charger i prosume.

Ahhh, I'll check the setting for hardware changes... It never used to do this that is why I'm asking... and as far as sleep is concerned, I've NEVER had an issue with ANY windows 7 laptop for sleep so I don't know why you are saying that Windows 7 has problems with sleep.....

seriously? i've got two notebook and a netbook running various versions of win7 and none of them are able to sleep. they just show a blank screen and keep running. dunno then if its just my laptops or a bug within the Eu version but it simply doeant work. and before someone screams pirate, all of the are legal MSDN copies.

All of my stuff is legal too... I don't think that that would matter anyways... I check all the power settings and I don't see a setting that would tell the computer to start when a hardware change has been detected... Can you elaborate?

I had the same problem with my desktop...I had to uncheck the setting under the mouse and keyboard that allowed them to wake the computer.

exactly. as i said, i'm not sure if the charger does the same thing. but my i've noticed that my school laptop takes longer time to hibernate when i disconnect the cord just as it shuts down. if i keep it it just takes a few seconds otherwise sometimes a few minutes. but don't take this as proof, since that laptop is, well a piece of crap is an understating. (dont buy an elitebook 6930p)

I got a similar problem with XP after an update.
Found that the standby timer must be less than 30 minutes in power management to work correct.
Perhaps it is the same with Win7 -

It is a power management settings thing.... Should be easy to do... My sleeps, hibernates and eats when I tell it to.
