So far i am loving this thing. Case is a lil beat up but not bad and will look much better after some paint. For 2000 hours it looks like it got thrown around some lol. Came with a fresh install on 7 32 pro with matching coa on bottom and panisonic recovery disk. Aircard drivers werent installed but i have them installing now, mc8355. I think thats the 3g multi carrier junk one isnt it?
I also got another mk6 didgitzer top with it and will be taking that apart tonight to get a feel for the innards and how much is different from the manuals i found.
Ram and ssd are ordered and should be here soon. I cant wait to see how this thing runs.

Sounds great. I have a MK5 with 240GB SSD and it made a big difference.

Im going with a 240 ssd and im going to try 16 gigs of ddr3l and see what happens. Its running pretty quick as it is, been updating and its just getting smother. Cant quite figure out the wwan yet though, its a factory installed card and im not getting it to show up. The nifty lil pani bios check thing shows something is wrong with it too

some time back i had a "problem" with a card ... it had been working and then stopped working .
checked/reinstalled drivers ... nope .
messed with it for two days .
i finally pulled the card , thinking that somehow a piece of crud had managed to get on the connectors .
everything looked clean ... nothing found .
popped it back in ...
it started working . -
Im going to pull her open today and check dip switch settings and if the card has the same info as on the bottom of the laptop. Who knows what has happened in this things history.
It says wan is enabled in bios but then fails that bios checker. Odd thought but it dosent need a sim card in it to recognize in the system does it? Just seems odd that a factory configuration is being such a pain. Im already looking around for a lte card but i would like to straighten this one out first. -
no dip switches on a mk6
-
Thank you, it's stuff like that tidbit that I'm going to have fun with lol. The diagrams I found were all from way earlier mks. Ehhh I will just keep playing with it. Are these even decent cards? Or is this not really worth the effort?

I just installed a wwan card in a 31 I sold.
Changed the BIOS wwan to 04
I installed the watcher program and it still did not work.
Then I installed the wwan driver and it worked.
Well,, it identified it and attempted to connect. -
Mine shows 04 in the bios already. I installed the drivers on panasonic site under the multi carrier section since it said this 8355 is one supported by that. Still fails the built in panasonic test
-
There is another driver you need in addition to the multi carrier software.
.
Found it under a mk7
Wireless WAN Driver for MC8305 / MC8355

Nice thank you will try that now.

Okay after struggling with this all night I got frustrated and started disassembling the laptop itself and my problem became readily apparent. Opened up the lil cover and 2 bare connectors are just dangling. Somebody along the lines snagged the card. I feel stupid for not looking many hours ago. Also my 4gb of ram are on one stick but I have 2 slots
So is there a preference on a vendor for these and any good recommendations for a replacement 4G card?Last edited: Mar 10, 2017 -

Just make sure it's a Panasonic card. I know the Dell, hp and Leveno cards do not play nicely with Toughbooks. Someone here should be able to tell you what card you need.
My cf19 mk6 has arrived
