Installed a Genuine OEM DVD of WIN7 on a MK3, moved the HDD Caddy over to a MK2 (reason is the MK2 has every possible option except DUAL RF and the MK3 has very high mileage).

Everything is working fine except I cannot adjust the brightness using the F Key. Do I need a MK2 Display driver or ???

I can adjust the brightness via Control Panel, but would be nice to work the settings on the fly via Function Keys.

One other issue is that I cannot get the Gobi 1000 up and running. Verified Bios Enabled. Installed GPS Registry Patch for WIn 7 from Panny site. Tried to install CSA Installer but it gets an error during install.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Uninstall the mk3 Win 7 video drivers and then install the mk2 VISTA video drivers.

Check back after all updates are done for W7...Gobi1000 may cure itself. Advise how many exclamation (yellow) things show up in the device manager. 0019/0021???
The reason is you said OEM DVD not Factory Restore. What Shawn said.
The Gobi card 1000 may show a NMEA line in the device manager but GPS was only enabled after Gobi2000.
Guys, correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Read up on this in the main thread on loading W7 on a CF-30... You install the older video driver first... Then you will get a BSOD... Let it go and reinstall the video driver again. It will work... Then you can load all the hotkey drivers. The one BSOD is the only one you will ever get... Then it will run fine.

Hi Jeff, I used the MK3 Win 7 Factory Restore Disc.No exclamation marks in Device Manager, not sure where to look in DM for the Gobi card though. The factory GPS actually works ok (the hump thingie). Wanted to activate the cellular connection on the Gobi 1000.

Look under com port, network adapter and USB. Seems like there is five of them.....four I KNOW....The entry under com port with NMEA would make you think it has GPS....they LIE. :) In case this is confusing...one is in Network adapter, two are in com and one in USB. I could look it up on another machine but I'm eating hot dogs right now. :)

That DVD is a rare one. FINALLY someone doing it right.

For a 5725 card I'm seeing one entry under modem, one entry under network, 2 under com and 1 under USB.
Sorry this is info from Sierra 5725 and not Gobi 1000 but the Gobi 30 is hiding at this moment. :D No promises but I may find it later.
Get a REAL Gobi2000 and save yourself some misery. ......my 2

    end edit.....J'd
