    This is my parabolic dish, fitted with a feed horn for 2ghz and 5 ghz.
    The gain on 2ghz is 26 dB and 35dB on 5 ghz.

    The creen card is a log periodic antenna, soldered to a 50 ohm hardline coax.

    The log periodic antenna is from:
    Kent Electronics, WA5VJB

    I picked up a hotspot that was 4100 meters away, the signal strength on that was -77dBm. The minimum signal strength required for a 1mbit transfer rate is -95 dBm.

    I have mounted a RP-SMA pigtail that is connected to my engenius card, on the lid covering the PMCIA card slot.

    Not bad..
    I put my pigtail out the back but still under the door, so if I need it, I slide the door open.

    The card is rated at 600mW at 2.4 ghz, that results in a ERP of 115 W with 25 db gain.
    600mW at 35 dB gain results in 1156W ERP.

    The 1000 feet dish at Arecibo Observatory has 60 Db of gain, if that one are feeded with 600mW, the result are 365853 W ERP!

    Thats 365.853 Kilowatts of radiated energy!

    If it is fed with 100W, the result is...

    60.97 MEGAWATT ERP!

    let it glow :)

    ...How should all the power come from an 45W powersource.

    (and in my opinion the reception is also important)
