Received it on Monday and can't put it down ! I have been using a CF-30 MK2 and CF-30 MK3 for many years and decided I wanted a faster, more updated TB. This is definitely a move in that direction.

I had them swap out the DVD drive for the 2nd battery. Knowing I was going swap out the HDD with a SSD and increase the RAM myself I ordered it with the lowest I could. Much to my surprise I noticed it came with 16Gb of RAM instead of 4.
I also noticed it had a 1 TB HDD. Upon removing the HDD to install my new SSD I was even more surprised to find that the HDD was actually a SSD. I was floored to say the least. This thing was fast before but after putting the Samsung 850 Pro it is crazy fast. Full boot to being connected to WiFi is 13 seconds.
I have no no clue why it came with these upgrades. My logic is that this might have been the closest that Panasonic had one configured so this is what they sent me? It took about 5 weeks to come in so that doesn't make sense really.....
The touchscreen is like night and day compared to my 30 regarding function and how precise it is. I like the different KB as well. The stroke is a little longer so I am getting used to that, but I like the texture better on this KB. I never had any complaints on the 30 Chiclet type though.
It is the screen and resolution that I am the most happy with. I have a couple monitors that have great resolution but coming from the 30's this is so nice. It's amazing how clear and crisp it is.
I suck at giving reviews so bear with me! Any questions you might have please ask....

They are nice for sure. However, it is really something the difference between the 54 and 30 in regards to how they are built. That 30 is built like a freaking tank compared to the 54. I realize it's rugged versus semi-rugged but after years of the 30 you get used to it.

Hi Toyo,
I just did the same with ordering the lowest performance spec. I also got more ram, 8gbx1 stick, and the hd was a hdd but it came with the hd heater.
Anyway, how did you copy the oem drive into the ssd?
Also would you recommend the wwan pass through antenna or does the internal give you good enough reception (what is your normal environment for using the wwan)?
Thx! -
This may help

"I was even more surprised to find that the HDD was actually a SSD"
i wonder if this was one of those *hybrid drives* ... an unholy union of a true ssd and a spinner hhd .
My new CF-54!
