Just received the new touchpad from Lithuania, had a little bit of fun sticking it with double tape but eventually I managed to get the stuff working, I'll finish to save my data and install a brand new Debian on it, it will be a good start, then I'll fix all the stuff that needs to be, for the moment it'll be fine, once I get the chance, I'll buy a Mk3 or 5 or 6 if I have the money/opportunity.
one question, do you know if it would be better repairing all the laptops I have sitting around and selling them as working or selling them for parts on ebay for example or maybe making a lot/ a few lots ?
eg: 1xDell latitude D520 with broken LCD+no battery
2x Fujitsu Stylistics with no problems except no HDD and Battery nor charger
1x CF-29 with almost dead battery and a bit of scratches on it
1x CF-19 mk2 once I get a new one
1x Dell vostro A90 with locked bios (I guess there might be a way repairing that) no charger too
...

I would sell them as-is for parts, but separate because different guys may want different parts. Fixing older units has to be a labor of love, not for profit because the parts cost more than you can get for a complete unit.

Thanks for your response, you're right, I'll do that, once I tried to sell one but I had no serious buyers because I did the mistake to set the end of the auction at midnight.
To come back to the toughbook, it works perfectly with the new touchpadnow I'm going to try to fix all the damages, do you know how to make it look better (scratches, a bit of rust on some screws, ...) ?
Thanks in advance -
I have a thread here on replacing all of the CF19 screws with stainless steel screws.

Those stickers are nice quality for the price.

That seller is from Oz and actually has an ok selection of Toughbook stuff.

I'm starting to use my CF19 again with it's new touchpad that works as expected, however I was wondering if there is some way of protecting it as it's actually scratch-less (surface a tiny little bit smoothed) and I'd like that it continues that way, I saw a product on ebay but I'm unsure of if it's a good product and as it's sold by 10pcs for 30$ which is a lot if it would be a better idea not to do anything and buy a new touchpad every two-three years or so.
about the stickers and paint, I don't think I need that, it's more the screws that rusted and a few scratches and bubbles on the screen protector but I'll see all of that later when I'll have time.
I'm very busy with my 3D printer build yet but it'll be finished soon (doing mechanical stuff this week, electronic stuff for the next one and hopefully it'll work)

try some 2" wide clear tape ... the kind that is used for sealing packages .

Hi,
I didn't use my toughbook the most in dangerous environnements (a few times) but in 2 years, it did wear out a lot and in may 2015 the touchpad became totally unusable, the new one is like the orignal one I got with the machine (a bit polished but not damaged) so will it last only 2 years or so ?
I'll try the Tape method
