I finally managed to build-up my CF-27 OS and softwares without any MP drives and used only hard drive with 2.5" to 3.5" adapter when transfering files. It was pretty tricky as it always tried to search non-existing drives. First I wanted to use win95 but it made a lot of troubles; PCMCIA CardBus was without drivers, IDE was without drivers, it accepted wrong audio drivers and crashed and trying to have usb drivers was nightmare!!!

I lost my counts but I think I have connected hard drive between computer about one hundred time when always needed to add files or reinstall dos!

So finally I put win98 and it worked instantly! No worries with PCI or IDE drivers and USB is immediately ready!

Now I got my Panasonic KXL-810A external PCMCIA CD-rom drive working too! And as I said earlier, I bought it originally because PCMCIA was the only way to connect external drive but then only later I realized it worked using SCSI! And best of all, it supported JAZ and ZIP drives too through PC-card!!! It made my dreams come true as I originally wanted JAZ drives to work with laptop!!! Damn great... luckily I didn't spend my money to very expensive scsi to usb adapter.

Anway, there was many things that I didn't consider. For example, my previous post about when I installed win98 to hard drive and then put back to toughbook, it said invalid disc and it was just because I didn't make proper MBR (Master Boot Record) so it just couldn't boot.

Anyway, I believe now I can offer some advices to those who are still doing same what I was doing all the time. Tough job but got good experiences at least!
