Hey guys,
On my CF-29ETKGZKM with one USB port, the opening as many of you probably know is pretty narrow and an inch or so deep into the case. I've already run into a couple of my cables and thumb drives that are too wide to fit all the way into the port.
Is there something you guys are doing to get around this? I did some searching for an adapter of sorts, but didn't come up with much. I did find a nice adapter that flips 90 degrees both directions, but I can't tell online if it is narrow enough or not.
Any ideas appreciated, thanks!

I have two of these and they work well. ( not from that vender, it was just the first hit that matched, but they may be ok.) -

Thanks, for 2 bucks I think it's worth giving a try!

radiocrack also use to have an "extender" that many people used.
I prefer to use a USB extension cable. You my purchase one from Big Lots, Wallyworld, dollar store, and many other major retailers. Of course, often times you get what you pay for. The dollar store ones usually last 2 or 3 months before errors start happening.
FWIW, YMMV. -
If you didn't want a hub and wanted something stiffer this might work. I haven't tried them personally.

I have a very short USB extender cable, it's just 4 inches long including the male & female usb, so I can pack it without noticing it ever, but it's there when I need it. It was a bit expensive (€9,99) but it works very well and has a thick, strong cable.

I also grabbed one of those zippy style extenders from BigLots for $1.99??? -
yeah, I had one coming with a thumb stick for coding H256. but that was a thin, miserable cable that failed not too long afterwards. so I needed another one on the spot, while I was away. The first one I found was expensive, but it's nice. Has a transparent outer and woven shielding beneath that. pretty sturdy one.

I personally sell 8" USB extension cables to my customers for $15/each shipped.
Let me know.
Thanks -
Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Are you using "Safely Remove Hardware" in the taskbar to stop the drive before unplugging the cable? Sometimes that makes a difference.

I'm using imation "Swivel Flash Drive" and unsnapping the swivel. Most of the time they will re-snap.
They fit nicely without the need for an extension. Not that I am opposed to the extensions at all.

I have one of these with a little tab of shipping tape for a pull handle. I can close the rubber cover on it:

Yes, I purchased a 512mb lego kingston thumb drive, and after the lego fell apart, had only what appeared to be a USB plug (still works great, but I have to use tape as a handle).
That, and when I purchased my 8gb tf card for my phone, it came with an incredibly tiny usb reader.
either can be used, AND have the port cover closed.
pita to remove, though. -
I just bought a handful of these a few years ago.

So I decided to just take a box knife to the plastic on the end of the USB cable and shaved just enough off for it to fit well.
The $2 4-in-1 USB splitter will come in handy sometimes I believe, but I decided it would just be another thing in the way and potential failure point.
Btw, I received my media bay battery the other day and after calibration it looks like it will add around 2 hrs of time so I'm pretty happy with that as well. Have the GPS' communicating and getting the hang of the CompeGPS software. Now just need to get some good weather to go flying! -
Hey, this is what we live for. (tongue in cheek a little)
We appreciate the report back of your success. Too many lurkers with no feed-back hurts our feelings.
Did you vote?

It also lays inside with the cover closed so it's always right there.. -
