    Hello!

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get the official panasonic wireless mini pci driver for the CF-48 mk5 (CF-48E4KFUDM). The panasonic website does not have it. Windows update loaded the Intel PROset 2100 3b driver however it did not install the PROset utility and I cannot turn the wireless radio on. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I hadn't tried that site but after browsing through it seems that the driver isn't there either.

Thank you for the link...that PROset software worked but I've discovered a different problem...

I thought I might be able to use the PROset software to turn the wireless radio on but the software is indicating that the hardware switch for the radio is off...does anyone know where the hardware switch for the wireless radio is located?

The wireless option is enable in the BIOS...is there a physical switch that has to be turned on?

    No switch on your model

If its enabled in the bios the next place to look for issues is in device manager, under network connections
Make sure all is good there

Then unistall all the software and reinstall the switch utility first
Try to clean out and uninstall all the drivers that are related to the wi-fi card

Some software and drivers have a order that they need to be installed in, i'm not saying for sure that this is case with you , but I have run into this before.

I personaly do not like the whole proset driver/ application setup as recomended by panasonic

You do need to have the switch utility , but I only install the basic driver for the wireless card, and I then let windows manage my connection

If you already installed the driver, why not simply switch windows to control the system. Installing wireless utility like (intel pro...) sometime are to complicated if you are not an advance user.

hi, if i remember correctly you can get driver only from intel's site, there is no switch or switch utility to install. download the driver from intel, use device manager to update driver (if it is not a self insalling package) then let windows control your wireless connection- i don't like the proset s/w either. if you can't get it going just let me know as i have a cf-48e with intel 2100 3b card here.

That explains the missing switch ulility in the downloads section
Its just the software related to the card itself needed

The problem looked like it was related to that item, but as 48user confirmed no switch utility you might have a bad wireless card

Thanks for all the suggestions! I did a fresh install of XP(the installation was pretty messy after all the installing/ uninstalling) and I installed the intel driver. Windows zero configuration just says that no networks are found in range, make sure the wireless switch is on. I then tried the PROset software again but it still says that the hardware switch is off. There is an option to switch the wireless radio on but it is greyed out.

For some reason the computer knows the card is there but doesn't think it is on...Do you think flashing the BIOS might help???

I had another intel proset 2100 3b card that I installed but it did the same thing. I then tried a Broadcomm 802.11 b/g card and it worked...well it would at least detect the network. I couldn't get that card to connect though.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to try. I guess I could just pull the MiniPCI card and use a wireless PCMCIA card.

jtsiek, if the broadcomm card is working i would keep playing with it. the 2100 3b is the card that unit came with and should be working- don't flash the bios-i've never flashed the bios on any of my toughbooks.

I'll continue to work with the Broadcomm card to see if I can get it to work. Thank you for all your replies!
